The Korfbal League & Hoofdklasse promotion/relegation play-off has been organized every year since the founding in 2005 of the Korfbal League. In the match the number 9 of the Korfbal League meets the loser of the Hoofdklasse promotion final. The winner gains a spot in next seasons Korfbal League.

The Eerste Divisie is the second-highest tier of football in the Netherlands. It is linked with the top-level Eredivisie and with the third-level Tweede Divisie via promotion/relegation systems. The Korfbal League is the highest echelon of korfball in the Netherlands. The league was founded in 2005 as the new highest level in Dutch korfball. Before that the top level was split in two divisions. Since the start of the competition the format has been the same. The winner of the Korfbal League qualifies for the IKF Europa Korfball Cup while the number 10 relegated to the Hoofdklasse (korfball). The number 9 will compete with the loser of the Hoofdklasse final in a play-off for a position in the Korfbal League.

The 2015–16 Korfbal League season is the 10th season of the Korfbal League since its establishment in 2005. PKC are the defending champions. At the end of the season Dalto relegated direct. AW.DTV went to the play-off to stay in.

PKC is a Dutch korfball club located in Papendrecht, Netherlands. The club was founded on 2 February 1935 and they play their home games in the PKC-Hal. The team plays in white shirts and green shorts / skirts. The club has around 1000 members, which makes it the biggest korfball club in the world.

The 2015-16 Hoofdklasse season is split up in two divisions of 8 teams: Hoofdklasse A and Hoofdklasse B. On 26 March 2016 DSC managed promotion by winning the play-off of the 2015-16 season against TOP. This meant TOP had to meet AW.DTV in the promotion / relegation play-off.

The 2015–16 Korfbal League & Hoofdklasse promotion/relegation play-off was played between AW.DTV and TOP. The first match in the play-off was played at the home accommodation of AW.DTV called Gaasperdam. After a 13-10 half-time score the home team won 24-21.

The Derde Divisie, formerly known as Topklasse, is the fourth tier of football in the Netherlands, which had its inaugural season as a third tier in 2010–11 and as a fourth tier in 2016–17. The league is placed between the Tweede Divisie and the Hoofdklasse, the third and fifth tiers of Dutch football, respectively. The introduction of the then Topklasse resulted from discussions between the Royal Dutch Football Association, the Coöperatie Eerste Divisie and the Centraal Overleg Hoofdklassers.

The 2016–17 season of the Hoofdklasse was played in four leagues, two Saturday leagues and two Sunday leagues. The champions of each group were promoted directly to the 2017–18 Derde Divisie. The 2016–17 Hoofdklasse started on Saturday 13 August 2016.

Sportvereniging Oranje Wit is a sports club from Dordrecht, Netherlands. It has sections for pool, tennis and association football. Its first male squad plays in the Saturday Eerste klasse since 2014. Home ground is Sportcomplex Stadpolders.
