The film celebrates 30 years of the Doraemon franchise. Despite conflicts between the Kuku Yalanji people and British settlers in Queensland, the Kuku Yalanji language has a healthy number of speakers, and that number is increasing. Though the language is threatened, the language use is vigorous and children are learning it in schools. All generations of speakers have positive language attitudes. The term "bolu kukus" however, usually refers to a type of kue mangkuk that is baked using mainly wheat flour with sugar, eggs, milk and soda, while also using common vanilla, chocolate, pandan or strawberry flavouring, acquired from food flavouring essence.
