Kuopion Reippaan Voimistelijat is a sports club in Kuopio, Finland. It was constituted in 1906 as Kuopion Reipas Ry. It is the only existing sports union that still bears the name Kuopion Reipas, but it has had a difficult time connecting to the origins of its roots.
The club was created when Kuopion Raittiusseuran Miesvoimistelijat and Kuopion Voimistelijat ja Rautatieläisten voimisteluseura united. The new name was Kuopion Reipas, and it offered skiing, wrestling, sports, gymnastics and football.
After 1918, the Kuopion Reipas union dispersed, and new sports unions were formed Kuopion Urheilu-Veikot (1920), Kuopion Palloseura ja vuonna (1923) and Puijon Hiihtoseura (1930). The remaining ladies gymnastics division wanted to preserve the traditional Kuopion Reipas name and adopted the name Kuopion Reippaan Naisvoimistelijat ry. In beginning of the 21st century, sport unions wanted to return to the concept of unisex gymnastics sport unions as it was before. This was due to the male gymnastics unions that were formed as subsidiaries in 1990s. The name was changed back to Kuopion Reippaan Voimistelijat to accommodate both male and female gymnastic enthusiasts. The sports union Kuopion Reippaan Voimistelijat has around 1,300 paid members, and it is the largest sport union in Kuopio.
In 1906–1907, the runner from Kuopio Hannes Kolehmainen represented Kuopion Reipas.

The U20 SM-sarja is the premier junior men’s ice hockey league in Finland. It was previously known as the A-nuorten SM-sarja during 1945 to 1991 and the Nuorten SM-liiga during 1991 to 2020. The league was founded by the Finnish Ice Hockey Association in 1945 and a Finnish Champion in men’s under-20 ice hockey has been named annually since the league’s inaugural season – with the exception of the 2019–20 season, in which the playoffs were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eighteen to twenty teams compete in the U20 SM-sarja regular season, which is played in a preliminary ranking stage followed by a divisional or group stage.
The Kuopio school stabbing occurred on 1 October 2019 at Savo Vocational College in Kuopio, Northern Savonia, Finland. Armed with a sabre, 25-year-old student Joel Otto Aukusti Marin killed a female student and wounded nine others. He also carried an air pistol which was not used during the attack; it was initially mistaken for a real firearm. The attack ended when a policeman shot and wounded Marin.

Finland has competed at every edition of the World Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Championships since its inception in 2000. In fact, the first edition of World Championships in Aesthetic group gymnastics was held in Helsinki, Finland. It has been the second most successful nation at the global competition for Aesthetic group gymnastics. By the end of the 2022 World Championships, its gymnasts had won a total of 45 medals, being the most successful nation. As one of the foremost nations in the sport internationally, its delegation for the championships are among the largest.
Kuopio Market Square is the market square in the Multimäki district in Kuopio, North Savonia, Finland. The market is located about one hundred meters above sea level and the size of the area is 130×174 meters. The cover is made of dice and nubile stone. In the east–west direction, the area is crossed by flat walkways. As a surface, the market is slightly sloping, which poses challenges for use. The structure rests on a 10–15 m deep sand mattress, under which there is a ridge formation starting from Väinölänniemi, which runs under the church towards Puijo. Tulliportinkatu runs along the edges of the square in the north, Puijonkatu in the east, Kauppakatu in the south and Haapaniemenkatu in the west.

Many of Kuopio's most significant attractions, including the Kuopio's Market Square and Market Hall, Heroes' Park and the Kuopio City Hall, are located in the district. Kuopio Lyceum High School and two kindergartens also operate in the district. Multimäki borders district of Maljalahti in the north, Vahtivuori in the east, Kuopionlahti in the south, and Hatsala in the west. Puijo is a district of Kuopio, Finland. It is located north of the center of Kuopio, along the European route E63. The area includes, among other things, Puijo Hill with its nature reserves, and the Great Cemetery of Kuopio on the south side of the hill between the five roads and the railroad track. There are many exercise and sports venues in the district.
Kuopiorock is a Finnish two- to three-day rock music festival held annually in Väinölänniemi, Kuopio, at the turn of July and August. The first event was held in 2003. In 2012, the event celebrated its 10th anniversary and the festival was held on 27–28 July.

The Snellman Park is the oldest park in the city of Kuopio, Finland, located at the Vahtivuori district in the city center between the Kauppakatu and Minna Canthin katu streets, in the adjacent block of Kuopio Cathedral. The park covers an area of 1.4 hectares. Today, the park and its surroundings are part of the larger Kuopio National City Park, established in late 2017. The park is named after J. V. Hatsala is a district located west of the center of Kuopio, Finland. The eastern boundary of the area is Puistokatu, the southern boundary is Minna Canthin katu and the northern is the Kuopio motorway. The western border first runs along Sairaalakatu and Niiralankatu. From the intersection of Suokatu, the border first runs north, then turns west and passes through the Savonia railway line to the motorway. The border leaves Mustinlammi on the Niirala side and on the Hatsala side of the swimming hall and Kuopio Hall.
Kuopio City Library is a municipal and regional library in Kuopio, Finland. The main library building is located in the Vahtivuori district. There are also 13 other library branches in the districts of Kuopio and three bookmobiles.
