As a player,Sveum saw action in 12 major league seasons between 1986 and 1999. He was a member of the Milwaukee Brewers,Philadelphia Phillies,Chicago White Sox,Oakland Athletics,Seattle Mariners,Pittsburgh Pirates,and New York Yankees. Following his playing career,Sveum managed in minor league baseball for several seasons before becoming an MLB coach. Sveum briefly served as manager of the Brewers in 2008 during his tenure as hitting coach for the team. He was later named manager of the Cubs after the 2011 season and served for two seasons. Alexander Fernandez is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He pitched for the Chicago White Sox (1990–96) and Florida Marlins in his 11-year Major League Baseball career. He was a member of the Florida Marlins when they won their first-ever World Series championship. After pitching the entire regular season for the Marlins,Fernandez was on the 1997 postseason roster for the NLDS and NLCS. However,due to a shoulder injury,he was unavailable during the World Series. Fernandez retired in 2001,citing shoulder problems that were incurred in the 1997 postseason.
