Lake Como, also known as Lario, is a lake of glacial origin in Lombardy, Italy. It has an area of 146 square kilometres (56 sq mi), making it the third-largest lake in Italy, after Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. At over 400 metres (1,300 ft) deep, it is the fifth deepest lake in Europe, and the deepest outside Norway; the bottom of the lake is more than 200 metres (660 ft) below sea level.

He served as Apostolic nuncio to several countries and as the Prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education. He was elevated to the cardinalate in 1991. Cardinal Laghi was Pope John Paul II's secret emissary to the White House and to several presidents of the United States. He had a particularly close relationship with George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

Laghi is a town and a comune in the province of Vicenza, Veneto, north-eastern Italy. It is west of SP350 provincial road. Laghi is Veneto's municipality with the smallest number of inhabitants and also the one with the lowest density. The name Laghi literally means "lakes" and is related to the fact that two small lakes lie in the center of the town.
