Lake Martha, oval in shape, is in the west-central part of Winter Haven, Florida. Lake Martha Drive surrounds two-thirds of the lake's perimeter. Lake Martha has a 84.38-acre (341,500 m2) surface area. On the northeast is a public park and boat ramp and across the street from this park is the Winter Haven campus of Polk State College. Winter Haven Hospital is on the lake's west side and a public park is at the southwest side of the lake. Residential housing surrounds the rest of the lake. [1] [2]

Polk State College

Polk State College, formerly known as Polk Community College, is a public state college located in Winter Haven, Florida, USA. Polk State College is a member institution of the Florida College System.

Winter Haven Hospital is a hospital and health service system based in Winter Haven, Florida. The hospital is managed and supported by the Winter Haven Hospital Foundation—a 501(c)3 non-profit organization—and is owned by BayCare Health System, a group of 11 not-for-profit hospitals in the Tampa Bay Area. The Winter Haven Hospital system includes the hospital proper, the Community Blood Center, the Regency Medical Center for Women and Infants, the Winter Haven Ambulatory Surgery and Diagnostic Center, the Center for Behavioral Health, and seven Family Health Centers in Winter Haven and surrounding communities.

This lake has no public swimming beaches, but it has one public boat ramp. Fishing may be done by boat or from the shores of the two public parks on the lake. The park on the southwest side of the lake has a public fishing dock, as well as two picnic shelterhouses and a playground. The Hook and Bullet website says Lake Martha contains largemouth bass, rainbow trout and yellow perch. One person commented on the Fishing Works website that the fishing at the lake was good and that in four hours he caught seventeen largemouth bass. [3] [4]

Lake Conine is a natural freshwater lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida. The lake is not within the city limits, but is almost entirely surrounded by the city of Winter Haven. Lake Conine is almost as often called Lake Connie as it is called Lake Conine. In fact, the Fishing Works website site has two listings calling this lake the former name and one calling it the latter. Lake Conine is bounded on the north and southwest by residential areas. On the west and southeast are woods. On the east the lake is bordered by SR 544. Lake Conine has a 237-acre (960,000 m2) surface area and it is shaped somewhat like a teardrop.

Lake Summit is a natural freshwater lake in Winter Haven, Florida. It has a 65.97-acre (267,000 m2) surface area and is somewhat oval in shape. It has two small coves on its north side. This lake is surrounded by residences around most of its perimeter. It has a public park, Lake Summit Park, on part of its west side, and Legoland Florida's water park is on its southeast shore. A boat canal on the south side of Lake Summit leads to Lake Eloise.

Lake Lulu is a natural freshwater lake in Winter Haven, Florida. The lake has a 315-acre (1,270,000 m2) surface area and has a somewhat irregular oval shape. It is bounded on the north and northeast by private residences. It has no eastern or western sides, as the lake's shore comes to a point on those two sides. At the eastern point, it is bounded by West Lake Eloise Drive and about 75 feet (23 m) beyond that is Lake Eloise. The entire south side of the lake is lined with a swampy area and a dense growth of trees.

Lake Mariam is roughly oval in shape and is on the northeast side of Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Water Atlas says sometimes the lake is known as Lake Marion, but a different Lake Marion is also in Polk County, Florida, where Lake Mariam is located. It has a surface area of 200 acres (809,371 m2) and is bordered on the west side, most of the south side and part of the north side by residential areas. Brandywine Health Care Center, a nursing home, is a block north of the lake. On the northwest and southwest Lake Mariam is bordered by woods and on most of the east side of the lake are woods and pastureland. On the lake's southeast side is a swampy area.

Lake Otis is a natural freshwater lake located on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. The Polk County Water Atlas says the lake sometimes is known as Little Otis, but this is confirmed nowhere else. The main part of the lake is somewhat rectangular in shape and on the south side of the main section of the lake is a long tail-shaped cove. Lake Otis has a 144 acres (58 ha) surface. It is connected on its northeast side to nearby Lake Link by a 50 feet (15 m) canal. This is the closest point between the two lakes. Other than where the shore where the two lakes are very close, Lake Otis is completely surrounded by residences. Lakewood Causeway runs between the two lakes. To the south of this area is a gated community that can be accessed by the public during the daytime. Most of the south cove is surrounded by another gated community and the public is prevented from entering it by gates that are closed all the time.

Lake Link is a circular natural freshwater lake on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a 26.17-acre (105,900 m2) surface area and is surrounded on all but the southwest sides by residences. A 50 feet (15 m) canal connects it there to Lake Otis, a much larger lake. On the southwest Lakewood Causeway separates Lake Otis and Lake Link. Other than a short bridge, Lakewood Causeway is a land route.

Lake Florence is a tear-shaped natural freshwater lake in east-central Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 72.59-acre (293,800 m2) surface area. It is surrounded on all but its east and northeast sides by residential areas. On the east it is bordered by woods and on the northeast it is bordered by a citrus grove.

Lake Daisy is a natural freshwater lake on the east side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a somewhat oval shape and has a 131-acre (530,000 m2) surface area. On all but its northeast shore it is bordered by residential areas. On the northeast is a residential area that has been only about one-tenth completed. On the northwest of Lake Daisy is a short canal that connects it to the tiny Lake Doll.

Lake Elbert is a circular lake with a circular cove on its southwest side. The Polk County Water Atlas says it is sometimes known as Little Elbert, but no other sources have used this name. Lake Elbert is a natural freshwater lake with a 172-acre (700,000 m2) surface area. It has ten to twelve mostly very small islands, all near shore. The largest, on the south side, is about 150 feet (46 m) long and about 75 feet (23 m) wide. It is entirely surrounded by Lake Elbert Drive. On the south side of the lake, Lake Elbert Drive is a major thoroughfare linking up on the southwest with Central Avenue and on the southeast with Dundee Road. Across the street from the lake is mostly residential housing. A small section on the southwest has two medical offices and on the northwest the lake adjoins Polk State College.

Lake Reed has an irregular circular shape and is on the south side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a surface area of 16.91 acres (68,432 m2) and is bordered on the west side and during times of high water is connected to small oval-shaped body of water on its west side. The lake is very swampy along its entire shore. It is bordered to the north and northeast by Eloise Loop Road, on the west by pastures and on the southeast and south by the gated Terranova residential community.

Ned Lake is a natural freshwater lake in eastern Winter Haven, Florida. It has a 72.38-acre (292,900 m2) surface area and is somewhat irregular in shape. The main part of the lake is oval in shape and on the southeast is a rounded cove. This lake is bordered by residences on the south, southwest, the northwest and the north. On the east side is the 42-acre (170,000 m2) wooded Street Nature Center.

Lake Shipp is almost round in shape. This lake is a natural freshwater lake with a 276-acre (1,120,000 m2) surface area. This lake is bordered on the north, northwest and the southwest sides by residential areas. On the east and part of the southeast are warehouses and business buildings. William G. Roe Park is on the southeast shore and Sertoma Park, officially called Lake Shipp Park, is on the west side of Lake Shipp.

Lake Buckeye, a natural freshwater lake in eastern Winter Haven, Florida, United States, is somewhat oval in shape. This lake has a 70.24-acre (284,300 m2) surface area. This lake is bordered on the west side by residences and along most of the north and east by woods. Buckeye Road borders the lake on the south and part of the southeast. This lake is very swamplike along its northern, eastern and southeastern shores. It has a number of floating islands along these areas and at least one on its west shore.

Lake Elizabeth is a tiny natural freshwater lake in Winter Haven, Florida. This lake is round and has a 0.91-acre (3,700 m2) surface area. This lake is bordered on all but the south side by residences along Lake Elizabeth Drive. A normally dry drainage basin, which is much larger than Lake Elizabeth, is on the south side. This lake has many large trees in the properties around it and much of it is always shaded.

Lake Smart is a round natural freshwater lake, with a semicircular cove on its northwest side, on the northeast side of Winter Haven, Florida. Lake Smart has a water area of 277-acre (1,120,000 m2). This lake is mostly surrounded by woods and citrus groves. On its north and west sides it is bordered by residential developments. On the northwest Florida State Route 544 runs along Lake Smart's cove.

Lake Maude is an oval-shaped lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida. It has a surface area of 54.83-acre (221,900 m2). On its north and west sides, Lake Maude is bordered by residential areas. On its entire east side is Lake Maude Nature Park and on the south Lake Maude is bordered by Avenue O Northeast.

Lake May, a wedge-shaped lake, is a natural freshwater lake in southwest Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 49.07-acre (198,600 m2) surface area. It is bounded on the east and northeast by vacant land, on the northwest by commercial property, on the west and most of the south by vacant land and on the east and southeast by more commercial property. Much of the shore around the lake is lined by swampy areas.

Lake Gem is a round lake on the north side of Winter Haven, Florida, United States. It is tiny and has a surface area of 3.15-acre (12,700 m2). On its north side is residential housing. On its east, west and south, it is bordered by trees. It is just north of the Polk State College campus. 11th Street Northeast passes 50 feet (15 m) to the east of Lake Gem.

Lake Idyl, an oval-shaped lake, is a natural freshwater lake in northeast Winter Haven, Florida. This lake has a 18.99-acre (76,800 m2) surface area. Much of its surface area is swamplike and it has at least a few floating islands. Lake Idyl is bordered on the north and west by residences, on the northeast by a citrus grove, on the southwest by woods, on the south by Colony Club Mobile Home Estates and on the southeast by woods.

Lake Mirror, an egg shaped lake has a surface area of 131-acre (530,000 m2). Lake Mirror is in a highly urbanized area. Other than on its northeast shore, it is surrounded by residences. On the northeast it is bordered by a woody area. about 200 feet (61 m) to its east is Spring Lake and about 250 feet (76 m) to its west is Lake Cannon.
