Larry Smith (born June 4, 1968) is an American former basketball player.
At the conclusion of his senior year, Smith was a unanimous All-State pick while playing for Alton High School. He was named Co-News-Gazette Player of the Year with former University of Illinois great Nick Anderson. Smith was also named MVP in the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-Star game. Smith was also named a Street and Smith All-American at the conclusion of his senior year at Alton. During his high school playing time, Smith averaged 24.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, 8.0 assists and 4.1 steals per game in his senior season.
As a freshman, Smith appeared in 20 games while averaging 5.4 minutes. He totaled 38 points and dished out 16 assists. [1]
During Smith's sophomore season, his playing time jumped to nearly 13 minutes per game, including five starts out of the 20 games he played. Amazingly, Smith played only 18 minutes against Chicago State, but scored 16 points on 6 of 8 shooting. Finally, he was third on the team with 80 assists. [2]
Smith was an instrumental force in the 1988–89 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team's drive to the Final Four. He started nine games during that season and played in all 36. Smith led the Fighting Illini in assists, dishing out 157 (4.4 per game) during that same season. His aggressive play off the bench sparked the Fighting Illini's running game while helping Illinois to a team average 86.4 points per game, its highest since 1966. Smith quarterbacked the Illinois offense in the stretch run, despite not being a starter. It was Smith who scored 12 points consecutively against Purdue and Ohio State, as Illinois kicked off a 10-game winning streak that included Big Ten wins over Indiana, Iowa and Michigan and five consecutive NCAA victories. Smith experienced a redshirt season in 1989-90 which moved his fourth year of eligibility to the 1990-91 season. During that season, Smith was named a co-captain and started 29 of 31 games. He scored 394 total points while averaging 13.6 points per game. Smith made 24 of 63 three-point field goals and 90 of 129 free throws. He led the team in assists with 144, an average of 4.96 per game. [4]

The 2004–05 Illinois Fighting Illini men's basketball team marked the 100th season of men's basketball at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign. After starting the regular season with a record of 29–0 and winning the Big Ten Conference regular season title outright at 15–1, the Illini were Big Ten Tournament champions. They advanced in the NCAA tournament to the national championship, marking the school's first appearance in the championship game, but lost to North Carolina, 75–70. They ended the season at 37–2, tying the record for most victories in a season for a men's college basketball team.
David William Meyers was an American basketball player who played for the Milwaukee Bucks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The forward played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He was an All-American as a senior in 1975, when he won his second national championship with UCLA. He was drafted in the first round of the 1975 NBA draft with the second overall pick, and played four years professionally with the Bucks.

The 2009–10 Western Michigan Broncos men's basketball team was an NCAA Division I college basketball team representing Western Michigan University. The team was the two-time defending Mid-American Conference (MAC) West Division champion. WMU was coached by Steve Hawkins who was in his seventh season as head coach of the school. The Broncos played their home games at University Arena in Kalamazoo, Michigan. They finished the season 18–15, 8–8 in MAC play and lost in the semifinals of the 2010 MAC men's basketball tournament.
Harvard Schmidt was an American professional basketball player and coach. A 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m), 195 pounds (88 kg) small forward from Kankakee, Illinois. Schmidt attended the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where he played from 1954–1957 for the men's basketball team. He also coached the Fighting Illini men's basketball team for seven years from 1967 to 1974.

Jamar Smith is an American professional basketball player for Bahçeşehir Koleji of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and Basketball Champions League. Standing at 6 ft 3 in (1.91 m), he plays the shooting guard position. He played collegiate basketball at Illinois and then at Southern Indiana.
Govoner Vaughn was a former high school, college and professional basketball player during the 1950s & 60s. Vaughn led Edwardsville High School to a fourth-place finish in the I.H.S.A. 1954 high school playoffs, as well as a second-place finish in 1956 to defending champion, Rockford West. Vaughn played in eight career state playoff games over two seasons, and his 92 points were all scored during the 1956 tournament. He, along with his teammate, Mannie Jackson, were named first-team all-tournament.

Cory Bradford is an American professional basketball player for Zhuhai Wolf Warriors. Bradford, a dominant high school guard, led Memphis's Raleigh-Egypt High School to a 1997 District 2A Championship while averaging 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists per game in his senior season. Bradford, an all-state, all-conference selection, was listed as the 72nd best high school prospect in 1997. He also averaged 22 points and nearly eight rebounds per game as a junior.
