Legacy Hotels Real Estate Investment Trust was a real estate investment trust (REIT) that was based in Toronto, Ontario.

A real estate investment trust (REIT) is a company that owns, and in most cases operates, income-producing real estate. REITs own many types of commercial real estate, ranging from office and apartment buildings to warehouses, hospitals, shopping centers, hotels and timberlands. Some REITs engage in financing real estate.

History

It was established in 1997 and was owner of 24 hotel and resort properties most of which are located in Canada, but it also had a couple in the United States. Its hotels operate under the Fairmont and Delta names.

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is a chain of luxury hotels headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. It was established in 2001 following the merger of Canadian Pacific Hotels and Resorts and Fairmont Hotels. Fairmont operates 75 properties in 24 countries, with a strong presence in Canada and the United States. The hotel chain is owned by AccorHotels, which acquired FRHI Hotels & Resorts in 2016.

It had a 24% stake in Fairmont, the rest held by Colony Capital and Kingdom Holding Company.

FRHI Hotels & Resorts is a global hotel management company that is based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. FRHI is the parent company that manages three brands of hotels: Fairmont, Raffles and Swissôtel. These hotel chains collectively include more than 100 hotels and resorts in over 30 countries worldwide. Since 2016, the company has been owned by AccorHotels, a French multinational hotel firm.

The Fairmont Washington, D.C.

The Fairmont Washington, D.C. Georgetown is a luxury Postmodernist-style hotel located at 2401 M Street NW in Washington, D.C., in the United States. Cominar is a publicly traded real estate investment trust (REIT) based in Quebec City, Canada. It was founded in 1965, and trades on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol CUF.UN.
