Leslie Arthur O'Neill (born 4 December 1943) is an English former professional football player and manager.

Playing career

Born in Blyth, O'Neill played as a midfielder and began his career in non-League football with Blyth Spartans.

He turned professional with Newcastle United in 1963 but was unable to establish himself in the first team.

He then made over 100 first team appearances for each of Darlington, Bradford City and Carlisle United. With Carlisle he made it to the top flight of English football in the same team as Chris Balderstone and Bobby Parker. [3]

He next played in Scotland for Dumfries club Queen of the South where he was re-united again with Balderstone. After one season at Palmerston Park O'Neill retired from playing in 1978.

Coaching career

O'Neill was manager of non-League team Workington between 1989 and 1991, and later managed Penrith.

John McKeand "Ian" McNeill was a Scottish professional footballer and manager. Playing at inside forward, McNeill started his career at Aberdeen, making his first team debut in January 1951. McNeill moved to England in 1956, and went on to play for Leicester City, Brighton & Hove Albion and Southend United. He returned to Scotland to join Ross County, then a Highland League club, initially as a player before taking over as manager the following season. He led the club to their first ever Highland League Championship in 1967.

Wesley Saunders is an English former professional football player and manager, who played as a central defender. He played for Newcastle United, Bradford City, Carlisle United and Torquay United in the Football League and Dundee in the Scottish Football League. Kevin Carr is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Born in Morpeth, Carr began his career as an apprentice at Burnley. In total, Carr made over 200 appearances in the Football League for Newcastle United, Carlisle United, Darlington and Hartlepool United, before playing non-league football with Blyth Spartans.

Willie O'Neill was a Scottish footballer who played for Celtic and Carlisle United as a full-back. Willie was a member of the famous 'Lisbon Lions' Celtic team who became the first British club to win the European Cup in 1967.

Bobby Parker is an English former professional footballer. He played for Coventry City, Carlisle United and Queen of the South.

Martin Stewart Burleigh was an English professional footballer who made 222 appearances in the Football League playing as a goalkeeper for Newcastle United, Darlington, Carlisle United and Hartlepool United.

Liam James McCarron is a professional footballer who plays as a winger for EFL Championship club Stoke City. Born in England, McCarron has represented Scotland at under-19 level.
