The Liberal Archive (Dutch: Liberaal Archief), located in Ghent, is the central archive of the Belgian liberal organizations, such as the liberal party (Flemish Liberals and Democrats and Reformist Movement), the Willemsfonds, the Liberaal Vlaams Verbond and the liberal young guards/Pvv-Jongeren.
The Liberal Archive was founded in Ghent in 1982 and was recognised by the Flemish Community by a decree on 9 July 2002.
Hugo F.V. Coveliers is a retired Belgian politician and lawyer. He was a member of the Belgian Chamber of People's Representatives between 1985 and 1995, and from 1993 to 2003. Since 2003, he has been a member of the Belgian Senate. He was a parliamentary chairman for the VLD in both chambers, from 1999 to 2003.
Liberales is an independent liberal think tank, located in Ghent, Flanders, Belgium. The organization promotes progressive liberalism and supports individual freedom, justice, a certain degree of self-government and human rights. It also supports responsibility, civil liberties, and solidarity. Liberales opposes conservatism, fascism, communism, libertarianism, and religious intolerance.
VLOTT is a minor Belgian right-wing liberal or fortuynist political party. Its title, VLOTT, is an acronym for "Flemish, Liberal, Independent, Tolerant, Transparent". It was founded on 23 November 2005 by ex-Open VLD member Hugo Coveliers. It participated in a list-cartel with the Vlaams Belang in the October 2006 Antwerp municipal elections and in selected provincial, municipal and district elections elsewhere in Flanders. Despite the popularity of their founder in Antwerp the shared effort of the cartel-partners did only result in a small 0.5 percent win, with no extra seat in the city-council. In 2007, VLOTT did not participate in the general elections, but their candidates appeared as independents on the Vlaams Belang ballots. Only founder Hugo Coveliers was elected to the Belgian Senate. After Coveliers withdrawal from active politics early 2012 Vlaams Belang stopped its cooperation with the party.
The Willemsfonds, named after Jan Frans Willems, is a non-profit cultural organisation founded in the 19th century to promote Flemish culture and language in Belgium. In order to achieve this goal, the organisation encouraged Flemish folk song, organised linguistic games and published inexpensive Flemish books. In addition, the organisation established general libraries.

Julius Ludovicus Maria Sabbe was a Flemish publisher and an active member of the Flemish movement. From 24 September 1869 on, he taught Dutch at the Koninklijk Atheneum of Bruges.
The Liberaal Vlaams Verbond was founded in 1913. From its origin it wanted to promote the Flemish cause and drew attention to social matters, within the Belgian Liberal Party. Together with the Willemsfonds and the Liberaal Vlaams Studentenverbond, it is one of the Flemish liberal organizations.

Henri Albert Oscar Lucien Marie Ghislain Story was a Belgian businessman and liberal politician in Ghent. He was born on 27 November 1897, in a prominent liberal family of textile business people. The Story family was connected with other families such as Mechelynck and Rosseel. Henri himself married Cecile Boddaert, a cousin of the President of the Ghent Liberal Association Henri Boddaert. He died in the Gross-Rosen concentration camp.
Adolphe Pierre Sunaert, Adolphe Sunaert or Adolf Sunaert was a Belgian painter, printmaker, teacher and author. He played a role in the organization and conservation of the art collections of the city of Ghent.
