The following is a list of American Eagles men's basketball head coaches. The Eagles have had 19 coaches in their 97-season history. [1]

American's current head coach is Duane Simpkins. He was hired in April 2023 [2] to replace Mike Brennan, who was fired at the end of the 2022–23 season. [3]

    Duane Simpkins is a college basketball head coach who most recently serves as the head coach of American University. He previously coached at the High School level for Bishop O'Connell, Sidewell Friends, and St. Albans. He also served as a college coach for Towson and George Mason. On April 1, 2023, Simpkins was hired to be the next head coach for the American Eagles.
