The following is a list of Long Beach State Beach men's basketball head coaches. There have been 16 head coaches of the Beach in their 73-season history. [1]

Long Beach State's last head coach was Dan Monson who was relieved of his duties at the end of the 2024 season. He was hired as the Beach's head coach in April 2008, [2] replacing Larry Reynolds, who was fired after the 2006–07 season. [3]

Lawrence Harvey Brown is an American basketball coach and former player who last served as an assistant coach for the Memphis Tigers. Brown is the only coach in basketball history to win both an NCAA national championship and an NBA title. He is best known for his 18-year tenure at Stanford (1986–2004), where he led the program to 12 NCAA Tournaments, including a Final Four appearance in 1998. Montgomery previously served as head coach at the Montana (1978–1986). Following his time at Stanford, he coached the Golden State Warriors of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for two seasons (2004–2006) before ending his career at the University of California (2008–2014). He announced his retirement from coaching following the 2013–14 season.

Orlando Henry "Tubby" Smith is an American college basketball coach who last coached the men's basketball team at High Point University, his alma mater. Smith previously served in the same role at the University of Tulsa, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, the University of Minnesota, Texas Tech University, and the University of Memphis. With Kentucky, he coached the Wildcats to the 1998 NCAA championship.

Richard Barnes is a men's college basketball head coach for the Tennessee Volunteers of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Besides Tennessee, Barnes is also known for coaching the Texas Longhorns from 1998 to 2015, taking the team to the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament in 16 of his 17 seasons -- including 14 straight from 1999 to 2012 -- as well as a Final Four appearance in 2003. Barnes also previously coached at George Mason University, Providence College, and Clemson University. He has an overall record of 25–26 (.490) in the NCAA tournament.

Daniel Lloyd Monson is a former American college basketball coach. He most recently served as the head coach at Long Beach State from April 2007 - March 2024. Previously he was head coach at Minnesota for over seven seasons (1999–2006), reaching postseason play five times. Before coaching the Gophers, he was the head coach at Gonzaga for two seasons, leading the Zags on an improbable run to the Elite Eight during his last season.

James R. Molinari is an American basketball coach and lawyer. Molinari is currently an assistant coach at Boston College. Prior to his stint at Boston College Molinari was most recently an assistant coach at Oklahoma from 2019 to 2021. He formerly served as an assistant coach at Nebraska and as former head coach of the Western Illinois University Leathernecks, where he served from 2008 to 2014. Prior to being named coach at WIU, Molinari was as assistant coach at Ball State University after serving as the interim head coach at the University of Minnesota, replacing Dan Monson on November 30, 2006 and being succeeded by Tubby Smith on March 22, 2007. Previously, he served as head men's basketball coach at Northern Illinois University and Bradley University. He also was a scout for the Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat.

The NC State Wolfpack men's basketball team represents North Carolina State University in NCAA Division I men's basketball competition. N.C. Donald Lloyd Monson is a former college basketball head coach and the father of head coach Dan Monson. He was a high school head coach for 18 seasons and college head coach for 14 seasons: five at Idaho and nine at Oregon. He was selected by his peers as the national coach of the year in 1982. Monson spent 1993 in Australia, coaching the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League.

The 2021–22 Long Beach State Beach men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach in the 2021–22 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Beach were led by 15th-year head coach Dan Monson and played their home games at the Walter Pyramid as members of the Big West Conference. They finished the regular season 20–12, 12–3 in Big West play to win the regular season championship, the school's first since 2013 and fourth overall under Monson. They defeated Cal State Bakersfield and UC Santa Barbara to advance to the championship game of the Big West tournament where they lost to Cal State Fullerton. As a regular season champion that did not win its conference tournament, they received an automatic bid to the National Invitation Tournament, losing in the first round at BYU.

The 2006–07 Long Beach State 49ers men's basketball team represented California State University, Long Beach during the 2006–07 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The 49ers, led by fifth year head coach Larry Reynolds, played their home games at Walter Pyramid and were members of the Big West Conference. They finished the season 24–8, 12–2 in Big West play to be crowned regular season champions. They were also champions of the Big West Basketball tournament to earn the conference's automatic bid into the 2007 NCAA tournament where they lost in the opening round to Tennessee.
