The following is a list of Longwood Lancers men's basketball head coaches. There have been nine head coaches of the Lancers in their 47-season history. [1]

Longwood's current head coach is Griff Aldrich. He was hired as the Lancers' head coach in March 2018, [2] replacing Jayson Gee, who was fired after the 2017–18 season. [3]

    Jayson Gee is an American men's college basketball coach who most recently served as an assistant coach under John Brannen at Cincinnati. He was formerly head coach at Longwood from 2013–2018. Prior to Longwood, Gee served as head coach of his alma mater Division II Charleston Golden Eagles and the associate head coach at Division I Cleveland State, Division I St. Bonaventure, and Division I Ohio. In 2015, he was awarded the John Lotz Barnabas award by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

    On March 16, 2018, during the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, the University of Virginia Cavaliers played a college basketball game against the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) Retrievers at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Cavaliers, who were seeded first in the South regional bracket and first overall in the NCAA tournament, faced the Retrievers, who were seeded 16th in the south regional bracket. Virginia and UMBC competed for the right to face ninth-seeded Kansas State, which had already won their first-round game against Creighton earlier in the day.

The Lancers, led by fourth-year head coach Griff Aldrich, played their home games at Willett Hall in Farmville, Virginia as members of the Big South Conference. With the reintroduction of divisions for the first time since the 2013–14 season, the Lancers played in the North division. They finished the regular season 26–6, 15–1 in Big South play to win the Big South regular season championship. They defeated North Carolina A&T, USC Upstate, and Winthrop to win the Big South tournament championship. As a result, the Lancers received the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, the school's first-ever trip to the tournament, as the No. 14 seed in the South Region, where they lost in the first round to Tennessee.
