List of NSWRL/ARL/SL/NRL premiership captains and coaches

This is a list of captains and coaches of National Rugby League premiership winning teams, as well as its predecessors NSWRL, ARL and Super League. Ken Kearney has captained the most premierships with six, all at St. George, [1] while Arthur Halloway has coached the most premierships with eight, four at Eastern Suburbs and four at Balmain. [2]

Contents

Up until the late 1960s, teams often had captain-coaches who would play and coach at the same time. In this list, they are counted as both the captain and the coach.

Arthur 'Pony' Halloway (1885–1961), was a pioneering Australian rugby league footballer and coach. Born in Sydney, New South Wales he played for the Glebe Dirty Reds (1908), Balmain Tigers and Eastern Suburbs (1912–1914), in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership. He played for New South Wales in the first rugby match run by the newly created 'New South Wales Rugby Football League' which had just split away from the established New South Wales Rugby Football Union.

Kenneth Howard "Killer" Kearney was an Australian rugby footballer – a dual-code international player – and a rugby league coach. He represented the Wallabies in seven Tests, and the Kangaroos in thirty-one Test matches and World Cup games. He captained Australia in nine rugby league Test matches in 1956 and 1957. He was a hooker and captain-coach with the St. George Dragons in the first half of their eleven-year consecutive premiership winning run from 1956 to 1966. He is considered one of Australia's finest footballers of the 20th century.

The 2021 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2021 National Rugby League season in Australia. It was contested between the Penrith Panthers and the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Sunday 3 October at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Penrith won the match 14–12 to claim their third premiership title, and their first since 2003. Penrith co-captain and halfback Nathan Cleary was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal as the official man of the match.

The 2002 South Sydney Rabbitohs season was the 93rd in the club's history and the 1st since 1999. Coached by Craig Coleman and captained by Adam Muir, Andrew Hart and Jason Death, they competed in the National Rugby League's 2002 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season 14th out of 15 teams, failing to reach the finals.

Katie Green is an Australian professional rugby league footballer. Her positions are wing and fullback. She previously played for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL Women's Premiership.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 NRL Grand Final</span> NRL Grand Final

The 2022 NRL Grand Final was the conclusive and premiership-deciding game of the 2022 National Rugby League season in Australia. It was contested between the Penrith Panthers and the Parramatta Eels on Sunday the 2nd of October at Accor Stadium in Sydney. Penrith, who were both the defending premiers and minor premiers, won the match 28–12 to claim their fourth premiership title, and their first back-to-back premierships in the club's 56-year history. Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards was awarded the Clive Churchill Medal for being judged as the man of the match.
