The following is a list of Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball head coaches. There have been 29 head coaches of the Huskies in their 123-season history.^[1]

Northern Illinois' current head coach is Rashon Burno. He was hired as the Huskies' head coach in March 2021,^[2] replacing Mark Montgomery, who was fired in January 2021.^[3]

He previously was the head men's basketball coach at Northern Illinois University. Montgomery replaced Ricardo Patton as head coach of the Huskies on March 24, 2011. Prior to being named the head coach at NIU, he was an assistant to head coach Tom Izzo at Michigan State for 10 seasons, the last four as associate head coach. The Spartans reached the NCAA tournament in each of Montgomery's 10 seasons on the staff, including three Final Four appearances and a trip to the title game in 2009.

Thomas A. "Tom" Jorgensen, Jr., sometimes known as Jorgy, was an American former basketball coach and player. He was the head coach of the Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball from 1966 to 1973, compiling a record of 95–61 (.609). He played college basketball at the University of Michigan from 1953 to 1956. He was also an assistant basketball coach at Michigan from 1960 to 1966.

The 2017–18 Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team represented Northern Illinois University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies, led by seventh-year head coach Mark Montgomery, played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the West Division of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 13–19, 6–12 in MAC play to finish in last place in the West Division. They lost in the first round of the MAC tournament to Kent State.

They failed to qualify for the MAC tournament which had been limited to provide that the bottom four finishers would not be eligible. The MAC also announced the removal of divisions in cost-cutting measure partly attributed to COVID-19.

The Huskies were led by second-year head coach Rashon Burno. They played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the Mid-American Conference. As the seventh seed in the MAC tournament they lost to Kent State in the first round to finish the season 13–19 and 9–9 in the MAC.

The 2023–24 Northern Illinois Huskies men's basketball team represented Northern Illinois University in the 2023–24 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Huskies were led by third-year head coach Rashon Burno. They played their home games at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois as members of the Mid-American Conference. They finished the season 11–20, 5–13 in MAC play to finish in 11th place. They failed to qualify for the MAC tournament
