Drago Jančar Slovenian writer

Drago Jančar is a Slovenian writer, playwright and essayist. Jančar is one of the most well-known contemporary Slovene writers. In Slovenia, he is also famous for his political commentaries and civic engagement.

Jože Javoršek Slovenian playwright, writer, poet, translator and essayist (20 October 1920 – 2 September 1990)

Jože Javoršek was the pen name of Jože Brejc, a Slovenian playwright, writer, poet, translator and essayist. He is regarded as one of the greatest masters of style and language among Slovene authors. A complex thinker and controversial personality, Javoršek is frequently considered, together with the writer Vitomil Zupan, as the paradigmatic example of the World War II and postwar generation of Slovene intellectuals.

Dušan Jovanović (theatre director) Theatre director, playwright and essayist

Dušan Jovanović is a Slovene theatre director, playwright and essayist. He is known for his experimental and grotesque saryrical theatre. Since 2005 he has also been the president of the Prešeren Foundation.

Fran Levstik was a Slovene writer, political activist, playwright and critic. He was one of the most prominent exponents of the Young Slovene political movement.

Anton Tomaž Linhart Carniolan playwright and historian

Anton Tomaž Linhart was a Carniolan playwright and historian, best known as the author of the first comedy and theatrical play in general in Slovene, Županova Micka. He is also considered the father of Slovene historiography, since he was the first historian to write a history of all Slovenes as a unit, rejecting the previous concept which focused on single historical provinces. He was the first one to define the Slovenes as a separate ethnic group and set the foundations of Slovene ethnography.
