In 1967, the two colleges were merged by President Park Chung-hee to form Yeungnam University. In 1972, the university's new main campus opened in Gyeongsan east of Daegu. The university includes colleges of Law and Medicine as well as a university hospital. It ranked 1st in the rate for passing the bar exam for the second straight year (2015~2016), ranked 6th in providing CEOs in Korea's top 100 companies (2015), and 6th in providing the CEOs in Companies listed on KOSDAQ (2014).

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Daegu FC</span> South Korean association football club

Daegu FC is a South Korean professional football club based in Daegu. The club was founded as a community club at the end of 2002, and made their K League 1 debut in 2003. Daegu has played mostly in the K League 1 but was relegated at the end of the 2013 season to the K League 2. They were promoted back to the top tier for the 2017 season and went on to win the Korean FA Cup in 2018, which qualified them for the 2019 AFC Champions League. The club's best season in K League 1 was in 2021, when they finished third out of twelve teams. The same year, they were also runners-up of the Korean FA Cup and made it to the Round of 16 in the 2021 AFC Champions League.

Dongdaegu Station, meaning "East Daegu Station", is a railway station in Daegu, South Korea. It is on the national high-speed KTX railway network, 282 km (175 mi) south of Seoul Station.

Daegu Metro is a metro system that serves primarily the South Korean city of Daegu, operated by Daegu Metropolitan Transit Corporation from 5:30AM to 0:00AM with the interval from 5 to 8 minutes between each car's arrival. With the fastest track speed at 80 km/h (50 mph), it takes 55 minutes for Line 1 and Line 2, and 48 minutes for Line 3 to reach the terminus station. As of 2015, the number of average daily passengers is 186,992 people for Line 1, 177,984 people for Line 2, and 69,127 people for Line 3.

The Jungang Expressway (Korean: 중앙고속도로) is an expressway in South Korea. Its name literally means "Central Expressway," and for much of its length it runs through mountainous terrain near the country's east-west center line, including the national parks of Chiaksan and Sobaeksan. It covers a total distance of roughly 388.1 kilometers.

The Daegu Civic Stadium (Korean: 대구시민운동장) was a stadium in Daegu sports complex in Daegu, South Korea. The former main stadium was used mostly for football matches of Daegu FC. During the 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Summer Olympics, it hosted some football matches. The stadium had a capacity of 30,000 and opened on 20 April 1948. The stadium was expanded and reconstructed in 1975, and was renovated and repaired on 8 September 2003. The main stadium of the complex was demolished in 2017, and the new DGB Daegu Bank Park was built at the same place.

The Daegu–Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone (DGFEZ) is a Free Economic Zone located in the southeastern part of South Korea. DGFEZ has 8 sites spanning over 20 square kilometers in Daegu Metropolitan City and Gyeongsangbukdo (Gyeongbuk) Province. As of January 2014, DGFEZ is home to 150 organizations attracting over $2 billion in investment.

Daegu International Opera Festival (DIOF) is a festival that is held in Daegu, South Korea. The festival takes place in mid October. However, the 16th DIOF commenced in September. Alongside grand opera performances, there are a host of programs in DIOF such as back stage tour, square opera, Opera Odessey, pre-concert, lucky seats etc.

The Dongseongno Festival is a festival held in Daegu Jung-gu, South Korea. The festival is held every May and includes a song festival, a fashion show, and concerts.

Hong Joon-pyo, also spelled as Hong Jun-pyo, is a South Korean politician and former prosecutor who is the current Mayor of Daegu. He previous served as the governor of South Gyeongsang Province, a member of the National Assembly for five terms, and the party leader of the conservative Grand National Party in 2011 and its successor incarnation the Liberty Korea Party from 2017 to 2018.

'Chimac' is compound word of chicken and beer in South Korea. Last year, 1 million people participated and this festival has been developed and getting famous. The festival also has many special events and music shows. People who come this festival can feel the energy of youth and make good memories with their friends.
