Dushanbe is the capital and largest city of Tajikistan. As of January 2022, Dushanbe had a population of 1,201,800 and that population was largely Tajik. Until 1929, the city was known in Russian as Dyushambe, and from 1929 to 1961 as Stalinabad, after Joseph Stalin. Dushanbe is located in the Gissar Valley, bounded by the Gissar Range in the north and east and the Babatag, Aktau, Rangontau and Karatau mountains in the south, and has an elevation of 750–930 m. The city is divided into four districts, all named after Persian historical figures: Ismail Samani, Avicenna, Ferdowsi, and Shah Mansur.

The Communist Party of Tajikistan is a communist party in Tajikistan, and the oldest political party in the country. The party was founded on 6 January 1924 and was the ruling party of the Tajik Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic from 1924 to 1929 and the Tajik Soviet Socialist Republic from 1929 to 1990 as part of the Soviet Union as a republican branch of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union. It was banned in 1991 following the 1991 coup.
Sughd Province is one of the four administrative divisions and one of the three provinces that make up Tajikistan. Centered in the historical Sogdiana, it is located in the northwest of the country, with an area of some 25,400 square kilometers and a population of 2,707,300, up from 2,233,550 according to the 2010 census and 1,871,979 in 2000. The capital is Khujand. The Province's ethnic composition in 2010 was 84% Tajik, 14.8% Uzbek, 0.6% Kyrgyz, 0.4% Russian and 0.1% Tatar.
The Russian 201st Military Base is a Russian military base based in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, part of the Central Military District. It was originally raised twice in World War II as part of the Soviet Union's Red Army and is now part of the Russian Ground Forces.

Jaloliddin Balkhi District, is a district in Khatlon Region, Tajikistan, located south of the regional capital Kurgan-Tyube (Qurghonteppa) and Vakhsh District. It was renamed Rumi District on 23 June 2007 in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of the Persian poet and philosopher Rumi and plans were announced to erect a monument to Rumi in the district. It was renamed again in 2016 to Jaloliddin Balkhi, another name for the poet Rumi.
Istaravshan District or Nohiya-i Istaravshan, formerly UroteppaDistrict, is a former district in the central part of Sughd Region, Tajikistan, between the border with Uzbekistan to the west and Ghonchi district to the east. Its capital is Istaravshan. Around 2018, it was merged into the city of Istaravshan.

Bokhtar International Airport is an international airport five kilometers northeast of the city of Bokhtar, near the village of Levakant. Also known as Kurgan-Tyube, but after renaming the city of Kurgan-Tyube to Bokhtar, it changed its name in the same way. It is one of the four international airports in Tajikistan.

Levakant, is a city in south-west Tajikistan. It is part of Khatlon Region, located just east of the regional capital Bokhtar and about 120 km south of the national capital Dushanbe. The Golovnaya Dam on the river Vakhsh lies directly to its east.
Ismoil Somoni is a town and jamoat in the Khatlon Region of Tajikistan. It is the capital of Kushoniyon District. The population of the town is 8,500.
