Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) is a centre-left to left-wing political party in Kosovo. It is orientated towards principles of social democracy, populism, and Albanian nationalism.
The Vlora War or the War of 1920 was a series of battles between Italian forces garrisoned throughout the Vlorë region of Albania and Albanian nationalists, who were divided into small groups of fighters. The war lasted three months until an armistice, according to which Italy gave up plans to turn Albania into a mandate and relinquished Vlöre; in exchange Italy retained a diplomatic protection over Albania to guarantee the country's independence and annexed the island of Saseno. This settlement was confirmed within the League of Nations by the Conference of Ambassadors a year later. The conflict had great impact in the struggle of Albania for the safeguard of its territories while Albanian borders and future were discussed in the Paris Peace Conference. The Vlora War is seen as a turning point in the establishment of Albanian independence.
Kosovo–United States relations are diplomatic relations between the Republic of Kosovo and the United States of America. The United States officially recognized Kosovo as a country, which declared independence from Serbia on February 17, 2008, the next day.
Albania–United States relations are diplomatic relations between the Republic of Albania and the United States of America. Relations were first established in 1912, following Albania's independence from the Ottoman Empire, ending in 1939 due to German and Italian occupation in the Second World War, and re-established in 1991 after the fall of communism in Albania and the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Indirect presidential elections were held in Albania on 30 May, 4, 8 and 11 June 2012, the seventh such elections since the collapse of the communist regime in 1991. The first through third rounds of voting were inconclusive. The fourth round resulted in the incumbent party's member Bujar Nishani being elected as President.
Helena "Elena" Kadare is an Albanian screenwriter, translator and author of short stories and novels. One of the latter, 1970's Një lindje e vështirë, is the first novel by a woman to have been published in Albania. A Woman from Tirana (1990) is the novel of Kadare's that is perhaps her most widely read.
