Music in professional wrestling serves a variety of purposes. The most common uses of music in professional wrestling is that of the entrance theme, a song or piece of instrumental music which plays as a performer approaches the ring. After a match, the entrance theme of the victor will normally be played as they exit the ring. Entrance themes are used to alert the audience to the immediate arrival of a wrestler, and to increase anticipation.

WWF Championship Wrestling is a professional wrestling television program produced by the World Wrestling Federation. It aired from 1972 to August 30, 1986 and was the original television show of the WWF. Originally produced under the World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) banner, Championship Wrestling featured all the stars of the WWF, interviews and championship matches. It was the flagship program of the WWWF/WWF's syndicated programming until it was replaced by Superstars of Wrestling in 1986.

"Bad to the Bone" is a song by George Thorogood and the Destroyers released in 1982 on the album of the same name. The song adapts the hook and lyrics of Muddy Waters' "Mannish Boy". While it was not widely popular during its initial release, its video made recurrent appearances on the nascent MTV, created a year before. Licensing for films, television, and commercials has since made the song more popular. Author Jim Beviglia argues that despite the song not making the pop charts, it "outstrips all other 80s songs in terms of the way it has essentially become cultural shorthand".

The collection represents a very significant portion of the visual history of modern professional wrestling in the United States and Canada. WWE has made their classic holdings available through numerous home-video releases, the WWE Vintage television program, and the WWE Network.

However, the album is now a single disc of original theme music, with a bonus disc containing a selection of past theme music.

The album also features the acoustic versions of Batista's theme song, "I Walk Alone" and Randy Orton's theme song, "Voices" which were used for their WrestleMania 30 video packages, which aired on WWE programming.
