Lithuania's Strongest Man is an annual strongman contest held in Lithuania and features exclusively Lithuanian strength athletes. [1] The competition has been held for 34 consecutive years. Zydrunas Savickas has won the title a record 17 times. [1]

Robert Stevenson Horne, 1st Viscount Horne of Slamannan, was a Scottish businessman, advocate and Unionist politician. He served under David Lloyd George as Minister of Labour between 1919 and 1920, as President of the Board of Trade between 1920 and 1921 and as Chancellor of the Exchequer between 1921 and 1922. In 1937 he was ennobled as Viscount Horne of Slamannan.
World's Strongest Woman is an annual strongwoman contest, and considered the pinnacle for female competitors and recognized as the world championships, and was held during the same time and same location as WSM from 2001 to 2003.
Ted van der Parre is a former strongman from the Netherlands, who won the World's Strongest Man contest in 1992 and was 4th in 1991. He also participated in 1994 when he finished 8th, having to drop out after the second event due to a calf injury. At 2.13 m and 160 kilograms (350 lb), Van der Parre was the tallest man ever to compete in the World's Strongest Man contest, and also has the lowest WSM BMI of 35. He also won the Netherlands Strongest Man contest in 1991, 1992, and 1994.
Britain's Strongest Man is an annual strongman event held in the United Kingdom. Competitors qualify for the final through regional heats and the winner is awarded the title of "Britain's Strongest Man". The competition is produced by TWI and serves as a qualifying event for the World's Strongest Man ("WSM") competition, also a TWI production.
Horse pulling is a draft horse competition where horses in harness, usually two animals, pull a stone-boat or weighted sled and the winner is the team or animal that can pull the most weight for a short distance. There are different weight classes and strict rules to avoid animal cruelty. As of 2010, the Europe's Strongest Man contest has become a part of the Giants Live season of annual grand prix events. The contest serves as a qualifying event for the World's Strongest Man contest, with the top 3 placings qualifying for that year's WSM contest.
Jarek Dymek is a Polish former strongman competitor. He competed in the World's Strongest Man event eight times, making the finals five times; his best finish was fourth in 2005. In the same year he won Europe's Strongest Man, his career best win. Dymek is also a three-time winner of the World's Strongest Team event, with his team-mate being five-time World's Strongest Man champion Mariusz Pudzianowski, for whom he is a training partner.

Don Pope from North Ridgeville, Ohio is an American former strongman competitor. He is best known for participating in the World's Strongest Man finals of 2005, 2006 and 2007. His best finish was 3rd at the 2006 World's Strongest Man competition. Don has a maximum dead lift of 800 pounds (363 kg), and can squat nearly 1000 pounds (450 kg). He is also a school teacher by trade.
