She entered the music industry at an early age, winning local contests by the age of 10 and recording for the first time at 14. She signed with Rounder Records in 1985 and released her first solo album in 1987. She was invited to join the band with which she still performs, Alison Krauss and Union Station, and later released her first album with them as a group in 1989.

Doyle Lawson is an American traditional bluegrass and Southern gospel musician. He is best known as an accomplished mandolin player, vocalist, producer, and leader of the 6-man group Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver. Lawson was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame in 2012.

Barry and Holly Tashian are an American country, folk and bluegrass duo. They are both singer-songwriters and musicians. They have performed and recorded together since 1972. The Tashians have recorded seven albums since 1989, and they have been awarded the National Association of Independent Record Distributors (NAIRD) award for their album "Straw into Gold". Barry has three CDs out with The Remains. They received a Boston Music Award for Best Country album for "Straw Into Gold". In 1998 their album, "Harmony" was nominated for Bluegrass Album of the Year by the Nashville Music Awards. As songwriters, Barry and Holly have written for Kenny Rogers, Solomon Burke, Ty England, Daniel O'Donnell, The Nashville Bluegrass Band, Roland White, Kate Brislin and Jody Stecher, Niall Toner and many others. Barry Tashian first won acclaim as a member of The Remains. Barry made his TV debut in 1958 on “American Bandstand”. He then later was a member of Emmylou Harris' Hot Band. Barry and Holly have recorded with Tom Paxton, Charlie Louvin, Nanci Griffith, Iris DeMent, Suzy Bogguss, and Delia Bell.

Steep Canyon Rangers is an American bluegrass based in Asheville and Brevard, North Carolina. Though formed in 2000, the band has become widely known since 2009 for collaborating with actor/banjoist Steve Martin. In 2013, the Steep Canyon Rangers' solo album Nobody Knows You won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album. The previous year, their 2012 collaboration with Steve Martin, Rare Bird Alert, was nominated for the same award. Steep Canyon Rangers have recorded 9 solo albums plus two collaborative albums with Steve Martin. SCR performed as a quintet for nearly a decade before intermittent touring began as a sextet with Steve Martin; the band still performs in both configurations. In May 2013, Steve Martin and SCR began performing with Edie Brickell after she and Martin co-wrote and recorded an album together, Love Has Come for You.

BlueBilly Grit, commonly abbreviated BBG, is an American bluegrass band originating from Maysville, Georgia. The band is a sextet composed of female and male vocals, acoustic guitar, upright bass, mandolin, fiddle, and banjo. BlueBilly Grit has released two albums — Mill Grinder's Blues (2009), Ready For A Change (2011) and Live at the Melting Point (2013). In 2012, BlueBilly Grit won the Telluride Bluegrass Festival band competition. In addition, BlueBilly Grit has performed in numerous radio and television broadcasts, including Nuts and Bolts of Fishing which aired on Turner South and the Moby in the Morning Show which airs on WNGC.

Her supporting band is called "Liberty Pike", named after a historic road that connects from Nashville, TN through Bell Buckle, TN.
Bill Grant and Delia Bell were a bluegrass music duo from Oklahoma. Emmylou Harris has said of Delia Bell: "If Hank Williams and Kitty Wells had married and had a daughter, she would have sounded like Delia Bell." Grant has been recognized as "Ambassador of Bluegrass Music" by three Oklahoma governors. Delia Bell died on 15 June 2018.
