Romania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 23 times since its debut in 1994, and has placed in the top ten six times. Its best results were achieved by Luminița Anghel and Sistem in 2005, and by Paula Seling and Ovi in 2010, who both finished in third place. Selecția Națională, a song contest that has been taking place every year in Romania except for 2021, has been used to select the country's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.
"Vivo cantando" is a song recorded by Spanish singer Salomé with music composed by María José de Ceratto and lyrics written by Aniano Alcalde. It represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1969 held in Madrid, and became one of the four winning songs and the second song from Spain –and last to date– to win.
Spain participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song "I Love You Mi Vida" written by Thomas G:son, Andreas Rickstrand, Tony Sánchez-Ohlsson, Rebeca Pous Del Toro. The song was performed by the group D'Nash. The Spanish broadcaster Televisión Española (TVE) organised the national final Misión Eurovisión 2007 in order to select the Spanish entry for the 2007 contest in Helsinki, Finland. The national final consisted of four heats, a semi-final and a final and involved 57 competing acts. Five acts and five songs ultimately qualified to compete in the televised final where a public televote first selected the top five to advance to the second round. In the second round of voting, a regional televote exclusively selected "I Love You Mi Vida" performed by Nash as the winner. The group was later renamed as D'Nash for the Eurovision Song Contest.
"Liubi, Liubi, I Love You" is a song recorded by Romanian group Todomondo, consisting of Andrei Ștefănescu, Ciro de Luca, Kamara Ghedi, Bogdan Tașcău, Valeriu Răileanu and Vlad Crețu. It was released as a CD single in 2007 by the Romanian Television (TVR) in Romania. The track is multilingual and is performed in six languages: English, Romanian, Spanish, Italian, French and Russian. Tașcău produced the song and co-wrote it with Crețu and Ghedi. Its lyrics deal with the theme of love and European clichés.
"Hear My Plea" is a song by Albanian singer and songwriter Frederik Ndoci. It was issued as part of a CD compilation on 20 April 2007 by CMC Records. The English-language song was written by Pandi Laço and composed by Adrian Hila. "Hear My Plea" represented Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Helsinki, Finland, after Ndoci won the pre-selection competition, Festivali i Këngës 45, with the song's Albanian-language version "Balada e Gurit". The country failed to qualify for the grand final in 17th place, marking its second non-qualification in the contest. During his dark-themed show of the song, Ndoci was accompanied by an instrumentalist and four backing vocalists. An accompanying music video for the song premiered on the official YouTube channel of the Eurovision Song Contest on 5 April 2007.
"Believe" is a song recorded by Russian singer Dima Bilan written by Jim Beanz and Bilan himself. It represented Russia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 held in Belgrade, resulting in the country's only ever win at the contest.

"Take Me as I Am" is a song performed by Georgian singer Tornike Kipiani released on 2 March 2020. It was chosen to represent Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 on 30 January 2020. In the song's lyrics, he states not wanting to follow western European ideals, and then says "I love you" in their languages.

Twelve entries were selected to compete in the national final on 11 February 2023 where "D.G.T. " performed by Theodor Andrei was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote.
