Locos por Juana is a band known for their fusion of reggae, funk, cumbia, salsa, and rock. Their style incorporates Colombian sounds such as Cumbia and Champeta, as well as Mapale and Chande, and non-Colombian influences including Reggae, Raggamufin, Dub, Hip-Hop, Rock and Funk; all of these influences have led to a fusion that Kondrat has described as "that island swing.”

Past Recordings, Releases and Media Attention

Locos por Juana released their self-titled debut in 2002 on the now-defunct Latin label Musical Productions, or MP, featuring among its track listing "Que Lo Que Esta Pasando" ("What's Happening"), "Viniendo de la Ciudad" ("Coming From the City"), "Mi Tierra" ("My Land"), "Sola" ("Single" fem.) and "Embustera" ("Liar" fem.).

Their sophomore effort, Musica Pa'l Pueblo, dropped three years later, in 2005. The album featured twelve tracks, including "Locos Por Juana Vol. I," "She's the Devil," "La Noche," "El Dia" "Colombia" and "Adoro" featuring famed Mexican singer-songwriter Armando Manzanero.

Armando Manzanero Canché is a Mexican musician, singer, and composer of Maya descent, widely considered the premier Mexican romantic composer of the postwar era and one of the most successful composers of Latin America. He received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in United States in 2014. He is the current president of the Mexican Society of Authors and Composers.

La Verdad (The Truth) in 2008 signified the group's major label debut, as they signed with an arm of Universal Music Latino, Machete Music, founded by Gustavo Lopez. The thirteen-track album had songs like "Tu Sabes Muy Bien (La Nalga)" ("You Know Very Well (The Booty)"), "Prende" ("Turn On" or "Light"), "No Te Preocupes" ("Don't Worry"), "Calles de Babylon" ("Streets of Babylon") and "Calle Luna, Calle Sol" ("Moon Street, Sun Street").

Machete Music is an urban music label owned by Universal Music Group. The record label had been largely associated with reggaeton music, but in recent years, it has been also been signing non-reggaeton artists such as Malverde, Mala Rodriguez and Chino XL. The label is part of Universal Music Latin Entertainment. Machete Music is one of the most prevalent labels in the Reggaeton genre.

Present

After their separation from Machete Music in 2009, wherein the band decided to return to their indie status, Locos Por Juana went on tour, visiting New Orleans and doing a ten-day European summer tour, including gigs in Switzerland, Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.

In spring of 2010, the band released the Evolucion EP, a work featuring six tracks.

Since the release of their last full-length, Somos de la Calle (We're From the Street) in 2012 under La Juana Music, the band has undergone numerous changes, including signing with Miami-based record label, Rock The Moon, [1] lead by entrepreneur Tony Gonzalez, with whom they released the single "Mueve, Mueve" [2] garnering over half a million views on VEVO with a video shot in Bimini, Bahamas. Their latest single, "The Cure," a collaboration with Collie Buddz, was released in May, 2016.

Collie Buddz Bermudian musician

Colin Patrick Harper, better known by his stage name Collie Buddz, is a Bermudian reggae artist best known for his single "Come Around". Although born in New Orleans, Louisiana, his mother was born in a small Jamaican village and he was raised in Bermuda, where his father was born. He studied audio engineering with Noah Zamudio at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. He performed on Shaggy's 2007 album Intoxication on the track "Mad Mad World". In 2007 his greatest radio success was "Mamacita" with which the artist was consagro selling an approximate 4 million copies thanks to the single.

The band recently collaborated with Zumba founder Beto Perez on the dance track, “Te Quiero Ver.” Their sixth studio album, Caribe, released in October of 2016, debuted #14 on THE CMJ New World Chart and features collaborations with Talib Kweli and El B, Notch, Elastic Bond, Rocky Dawuni, ChocQuibTown, Jorge Villamizar, Chad Stokes (DISPATCH), Marinah (Ojos de Brujo), Collie Buddz, Vaughn Benjamin (Midnite) and XAXO. LPJ released their Caribe Remix EP in December of 2017, after having performed on PBS during the 30th Annual Hispanic Heritage Foundation (HHF) Awards, and receiving the 2017 American Latino Influencer Award for their work on #WeDreamAmerica.

Los de atrás vienen conmigo is the third studio album by Puerto Rican alternative rap band Calle 13 and was released on October 21, 2008 by Sony Music Latin. This album is a bit more colorful than the previous, although dark humor continues to be the tone. The album has a fusion of rhythms the band discovered during their visits to several countries. They fuse rhythms of 'cumbia villera' native to Argentina, and rhythms of Balkan music. The album features collaborations with Rubén Blades, Café Tacuba, and Afrobeta.

Bomba Estéreo is a Colombian band founded in the capital, Bogotá, in 2005 by Simón Mejía. Their music has been described as "electro vacilón", "electro tropical" or "psychedelic cumbia". According to Mejía, the band's name is a Colombian term for "a really cool, awesome, bad ass party".

The New Chilean Cumbia also known as New Chilean Cumbia Rock is a subgenre of cumbia music that originated in Chile in the early 2000s and that largely surfaced in mainstream media in 2009 and 2010. New Kingston is a Progressive Reggae group whose members combine their Jamaican heritage with the urban sounds of their New York home, New Kingston are a family band consisting of brothers Tahir, Courtney Jr., and Stephen along with their father, Courtney Panton, Sr. A first-generation Jamaican-American, Courtney the elder was active in New York's reggae scene before turning his sons on to the music of their island heritage. Born out of jam sessions in the family's Brooklyn basement, the brothers began their career playing Bob Marley and Earth, Wind & Fire covers at parties and gatherings around the neighborhood. By 2010, they'd become focused on their own writing, which fused R&B, hip-hop, and dancehall with traditional reggae sounds. With each brother writing and offering vocals, Courtney Sr. filled in on bass. Following their self-released debut, In the Streets, New Kingston went on a European tour with rising reggae star Collie Buddz, playing a number of prominent festivals. Their sophomore LP, 2013's Kingston University, earned them a deal with New York label Easy Star Records, which issued their third LP, Kingston City, in early 2015. Boasting an increased production value and guest spots by the Tribal Seeds, The Wailing Souls, Sister Carol, and Sugar Minott, Kingston City raised the band's visibility considerably, topping Billboard's reggae chart upon its release. An EP, Kingston Fyah, arrived in the summer of 2016.
