Bear Creek is a town in Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 497 at the 2000 census. The town took its name from Bear Creek. The unincorporated community of Loreta is located in the town.
Virginia Cathryn "Gena" Rowlands is a retired American actress, whose career in film, stage, and television has spanned over six decades. A four-time Emmy and two-time Golden Globe winner, she is known for her collaborations with her late actor-director husband John Cassavetes in ten films, including A Woman Under the Influence (1974) and Gloria (1980), which earned her nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress. She also won the Silver Bear for Best Actress for Opening Night (1977). She is also known for her performances in Woody Allen's Another Woman (1988), and her son, Nick Cassavetes' film, The Notebook (2004). In November 2015, Rowlands received an Honorary Academy Award in recognition of her unique screen performances.

A monstrance, also known as an ostensorium, is the vessel used in Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, High Church Lutheran and Anglican churches for the more convenient exhibition of some object of piety, such as the consecrated Eucharistic host during Eucharistic adoration or Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It is also used as reliquary for the public display of relics of some saints. The word monstrance comes from the Latin word monstrare, while the word ostensorium came from the Latin word ostendere. Both terms, meaning "to show", are used for vessels intended for the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, but ostensorium has only this meaning.
Loreta Janeta , was a woman who claimed to have masqueraded as a male Confederate soldier during the American Civil War, though her story has been brought into question by recent scholarship. The book she wrote about her experiences claims that after her soldier husband's accidental death, she enlisted in the Confederate States Army in 1861. She then fought at Bull Run, Ball's Bluff, and Fort Donelson, but was discharged when her gender was discovered while in New Orleans. Undeterred, she reenlisted and fought at Shiloh, until unmasked once more. She then became a Confederate spy, working in both male and female guises, and as a double agent also reporting to the U.S. Secret Service. She remarried three more times, being widowed in each instance. According to William C. Davis, she died in January 1923 under the name Loretta J. Beard after many years away from the public eye in a public psychiatric facility, St. Elizabeths Hospital.
Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofer was a Bohemian architect of the Baroque era. He was the fifth son of the German architect Christoph Dientzenhofer and the Bohemian German ethnics Maria Anna Aichbauer, the widow of the architect Johann Georg Achbauer the Elder, and a member of the well known Dientzenhofer family of architects. Loreto is an unincorporated community in the town of Bear Creek, Sauk County, Wisconsin, United States. The community center was once located on Highway G in Town 10N Range3E in Section 14 with a public school in Joint District 9, a cheese factory, tavern, store and post office. The village name is sometimes spelled "Loretto" or "Loreta." The school closed in 1962 and the businesses no longer exist. Remaining is the Catholic parish of St. Patrick's with a brick church and rectory and parish cemetery. It was named after Loreto, Italy in 1900 by Rev. Felix Andrew Byrne, the postmaster at Loreto and pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
