Lødingen has the nickname "Biketown" because it hosts several annual bicycle races, including "Lofoten Insomnia" and Vestbygd-rittet.

The scenery is characterized by peaks jutting out of the ocean and fjords, the highest point is the 1,262-metre (4,140 ft) tall Møysalen mountain. The park mostly lies in Lødingen Municipality, but the far northern part crosses over into Sortland Municipality.

The village is located in the Vestbygd area on the southern shore of the island of Hinnøya along the inner part of the Vestfjorden. It is located about 50 kilometres (31 mi) by car southwest of the main village of Lødingen. The villages of Ytterstad and Offersøya are both located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southeast.

Rotvær Lighthouse is a coastal lighthouse in Lødingen Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The lighthouse sits at the east end of the island of Fugløya, part of dangerous reef at the entrance to the Ofotfjorden, about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south of the village of Lødingen.

Vestbygd Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Lødingen Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vågehamn. It is one of the two churches for the Lødingen parish which is part of the Vesterålen prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1885 using plans drawn up by the architect Johannes Henrik Nissen. The church seats about 230 people. The church holds worship services one Sunday each month.
