Mützenich, also known as Mützenich bei Prüm, is a municipality in the district of Bitburg-Prüm, in Rhineland-Palatinate, western Germany.

After the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II in 1945, Belgium planned to annex parts of the territory along the Belgian–German border. In addition to monetary compensations and the lending of labour forces, this was considered a way of reparations.
