Muhammed Usman Adamu (born 15 September), known professionally as Magnito,[1][2] is a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter.[3] He rose to prominence in 2017 with his single "If I Get Money Ehn,"[4] In 2025 he was nominated for The Headies awards for Best Rap Single[5][6]
Magnito, born on September 15, in Abuja, Nigeria, is a talented rapper and songwriter known for his witty lyrics and storytelling. He spent his early years in Abuja, where he completed his primary and secondary education. Magnito hails from the Idoma tribe in Benue State, North-Central Nigeria, a background that influences his unique musical style.[7] In 2007, Magnito earned a degree in Business Management from the University of Jos (UNIJOS) in Plateau State. After his studies, he relocated to Lagos to further pursue his music career. While he started rapping at 19, he went professional at the age of 24, carving a niche for himself with his witty storytelling and unique flow.[8]
Career
Magnito began his rap journey at 19, achieving his professional breakthrough at 24.[9] In 2010, he dropped his debut single, Medicine Girl, but later took a break from the music scene. His big moment came in 2016 with If I Get Money, a track that gained widespread recognition and heavy airplay. Building on its success, he later released a remix featuring reggae and dancehall star Patoranking.[10] In 2019, he released a single titled “Genevieve” featuring Duncan Mighty.[11] In 2023 he released “Canda” which went viral and artistes started jumping on it,[12] it has multiple remix versions which includes Olamide, Falz and Josh2funny.[13] On February 12, 2025, his single “Single” was nominated for The Headies awards for Best Rap Single of the year.[14]
