The 2005 Magog municipal election was held on November 6, 2005, to elect a mayor and councillors in the city of Magog, Quebec. Marc Poulin was re-elected to a third term as mayor without opposition.

In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town.

Magog is a city in southeastern Quebec, Canada, about 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of Montreal at the confluence of Lake Memphremagog—after which the city was named—with the Rivière aux Cerises and the Magog River. It is a major centre and industrial city in the Regional County Municipality of Memphremagog. The city lies in the Eastern Townships tourist region.

Quebec is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is bordered to the west by the province of Ontario and the bodies of water James Bay and Hudson Bay; to the north by Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay; to the east by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador; and to the south by the province of New Brunswick and the U.S. states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. It also shares maritime borders with Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia. Quebec is Canada's largest province by area and its second-largest administrative division; only the territory of Nunavut is larger. It is historically and politically considered to be part of Central Canada.

Michel Voyer is a businessperson in Magog. In the 1980s, he was president of the downtown association and the Chamber of Commerce. He is a Canadian federalist and supported the "Oui" side in the 1992 Canadian referendum on the Charlottetown Accord.^[1] He served on the Magog Township council from 1995 until its merger with Magog in 2002, when he was elected for the new city's fifth ward.^[2] He initially favoured the de-merger of Magog Township in 2004, but changed his mind following two provincial amendments to the new city of Magog's charter.^[3] He was defeated in 2005 and later served on the board of Magog's business development corporation.^[4]

The Charlottetown Accord was a package of proposed amendments to the Constitution of Canada, proposed by the Canadian federal and provincial governments in 1992. It was submitted to a public referendum on October 26 and was defeated.

Magog Township is a former township in the Canadian province of Quebec. It was amalgamated into the city of Magog in 2002.

Townshippers' Association is a non-partisan, non-profit organization mandated to support the rights of English-speaking people in the historical Eastern Townships region of the Canadian province of Quebec. It is known in French as the Association des Townshippers. The association has its head office in Lennoxville and a branch office in Knowlton.
