Major General (Retd) Mahmudul Hasan is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician and the former member of parliament from Tangail-5.
Hasan retired from Bangladesh Army as a major general. He served in the cabinet of President Hossain Mohammad Ershad as the Home Minister. [1]
Hasan was elected to Parliament on 29 December 2012 from Tangail-5 in a by-election. The by-election was called after the Bangladesh Election Commission cancelled the election of Jatiya Party MP Abul Kashem. [2]
He is also the founder of Major-general Mahmudul Hasan Ideal College,Tangail. [3]
The Bangladesh Awami League,often simply called the Awami League or AL,is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh,being the ruling party since 2009,and has since been described as authoritarian.

Abdul Kader Siddique is a Bangladeshi politician. He served as a Mukti Bahini member and organizer of the Bangladesh Liberation War. He fought with an estimated 17,000-strong guerrilla force in the Tangail region against the Pakistan Army. The army was called Kaderia Bahini. At the end of the war in 1971,Siddique's forces entered Dhaka along with the Indian forces,signaling the end of the war. He was awarded Bir Uttom by the Government of Bangladesh. Since 1999,he has been serving as the leader of his newly formed party,the Krishak Sramik Janata League.
The 2006–2008 Bangladeshi political crisis began as a caretaker government (CTG) assumed power at the end of October 2006 following the end of term of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party administration. The BNP government increased the chief justice's retirement age in an unconstitutional way to bias the appointment of the head of the caretaker government. CTG manages the government during the interim 90-day period and parliamentary elections. Political conflict began with the alleged appointment of a Chief Advisor,a role which devolved to the President,Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed. The interim period was marked from the beginning by violent protests initiated by the Awami League named Logi Boitha Andolan,with 40 people killed and hundreds injured in the first month. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party had its own complaints about the process and the opposition.
