Mark Pellew

Mark Pellew CVO (born 28 August 1942), a British diplomat, was Her Britannic Majesty's Ambassador to the Holy See 1998-2002. [1]

Biography

Pellew was educated at Winchester College [2] and Trinity College, Oxford. He joined the Foreign Office in 1965. [3]

Trinity College, Oxford college of the University of Oxford

Trinity College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Oxford in England. The college was founded in 1555 by Sir Thomas Pope, on land previously occupied by Durham College, home to Benedictine monks from Durham Cathedral.

He was 1st Secretary in Rome 1976-1980, and Assistant Head of the Personnel Operations Department 1981-1983. He was seconded to Hambros Bank (1989–1991), and served as a Counsellor in Washington (1983–1989). He was Head of the North American Department at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (1991–1996). Hambros Bank

Hambros Bank was a British bank based in London. The Hambros bank was a specialist in Anglo-Scandinavian business with expertise in trade finance and investment banking, and was the sole banker to the Scandinavian kingdoms for many years. The Bank was sold in 1998, and today survives only in the name of the private banking division of the French group Société Générale.

A consul is an official representative of the government of one state in the territory of another, normally acting to assist and protect the citizens of the consul's own country, and to facilitate trade and friendship between the people of the two countries.

After leaving the Diplomatic Service he was Chief Executive to the Secretary-General of the Anglican Consultative Council 2002–05. [3]

The Anglican Consultative Council or ACC is one of the four "Instruments of Communion" of the Anglican Communion. It was created by a resolution of the 1968 Lambeth Conference. The council, which includes Anglican bishops, clergy and laity, meets every two or three years in different parts of the world.
