Commodore Mark B. Watson is a Royal Canadian Navy officer. He is the current Director General of Morale and Welfare Services (DGMWS) at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.
Watson grew up in Barrie, Ontario and stayed there up until his early adolescence.

Prior to his appointment as the Director General of Morale and Welfare Services, Watson was the Commanding Officer of the Canadian Forces Support Unit (Ottawa). In this role Watson was responsible for over 50,000 Defence community members in the National Capital Region, including Regular Force members, Reserve Force members, civilian employees, veterans and their families.
As CO of CFSU (Ottawa), Watson launched numerous community initiatives such as the launch of the Guard of Honour newspaper and the organization of the Canadian Defence Community Family Appreciation Days at CFB Uplands. [1]
After two years as the Commanding Officer of CFSU (Ottawa), Watson was promoted to Commodore and appointed Director General of Morale and Welfare Services. In his Christmas 2013 address, Watson said his first year as DGMWS was largely successful: they had launched the CFOne Card, implemented a new fitness test for Canadian Forces members, created a 24/7 Family Information line, and provided support to thousands of ill or injured Canadian Forces personnel. Shortly after being appointed, in April 2013, Watson's department changed its name from Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services to Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services. [3]
As DGMWS, Watson reports to the Chief of Military Personnel.

Canadian Forces Base Uplands was a Canadian Forces Base located in Ottawa, Ontario. Most of the land which formed the base was transferred to the Ottawa Macdonald–Cartier International Airport after the base was closed in the 1990s. Vice-Admiral Harold Taylor Wood Grant, was a Canadian naval officer and a post-war Chief of the Naval Staff. The son of Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, MacCallum Grant, Harold Grant entered the Royal Canadian Navy as a cadet in 1914. He spent most of the First World War in training until 1917, when he became a midshipman aboard a British Royal Navy ship. Considered an above average officer, he was earmarked for early promotion during the interwar period and by 1938, commanded the destroyer HMCS Skeena.
The Surgeon General is the professional head of the Canadian military health jurisdiction, the adviser to the Minister of National Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff on all matters related to health, and head of the Royal Canadian Medical Service. The Surgeon General may also be appointed the commander of the Canadian Forces Health Services Group, which fulfils all military health system functions from education and clinical services to research and public health. When appointed Director General Health Services, the Surgeon General is also the senior health services staff officer in the Department of National Defence. The Surgeon General is normally appointed to the Medical Household as Honorary Physician (QHP) or Honorary Surgeon (QHS) to His Majesty the King.
