The Mason River is a river of the north Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It flows south from the Amuri Range, at the foot of the Mason Hills before turning southwest to reach the Waiau River just to the west of the township of Waiau.

The Kaikōura Ranges are two parallel ranges of mountains located in the northeast of the South Island of New Zealand. The two ranges are visible from a great distance, including from the southern coast of the North Island.

Mt Lyford (1590m) is the home of an alpine village and ski resort in the South Island of New Zealand. It is 146 kilometres by road north of Christchurch on the Inland Kaikōura Road (SH70) between Culverden and Kaikōura. The resort is a 40-minute drive to Hanmer Springs and a 45-minute drive to Kaikōura. The nearby township of Waiau, Canterbury has a small supermarket, DIY store and petrol station. The Inland Kaikōura Road is very scenic and windy from Waiau through to Kaikōura and forms part of the Alpine Pacific Touring Route.

The Bluff River is a river of New Zealand. It is in the Canterbury Region and is a tributary of the Waiau Toa / Clarence River. The Bluff River flows south for 10 kilometres (6 mi) from the slopes of Mount Major in the Inland Kaikōura Range. Confusingly, the Bluff Stream, another tributary of the Waiau Toa / Clarence, follows a largely parallel course 5 kilometres (3 mi) to the east.

The Castaly River is a river of New Zealand. It is in north Canterbury, northwest of the township of Parnassus, and flows generally east for 8 kilometres (5 mi) before joining the Leader River, itself a tributary of the Waiau River.

The Dillon River is a river of the Marlborough Region of New Zealand. It arises in the Inland Kaikōura Range near Carters Saddle, and flows south-west for 28 kilometres (17 mi) to join with the upper Waiau Toa / Clarence River 20 kilometres (12 mi) northeast of Hanmer Springs. The river's course lies largely parallel with that of the Acheron River, which lies 8 kilometres (5 mi) to the west. The river was named after Constantine Dillon, who owned a sheep run near the Omaka River.

The Empson River is a stream in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It arises near Grey Hill in the Hanmer Range and flows south into the Waiau Uwha River. The name is not official.

The Gloster River is a river in the Marlborough region of New Zealand. It arises on the northern slope of Dillon Cone in the Inland Kaikōura Range and flows north, then south-east and east to join the Waiau Toa / Clarence River which eventually exits into the Pacific Ocean.

The Guide River is a river in the Marlborough Region of New Zealand. It starts near Barefell Pass on the eastern side of the Rachel Range and flows south-east to join the Acheron River, which joins the Waiau Toa / Clarence River and eventually drains into the Pacific Ocean.
