Matthew Levin is an American celebrity chef based in Philadelphia. He was the executive chef at Lacroix in the famed Rittenhouse Hotel until December 9, 2008. From 2010 to July 24, 2011, he was the chef at Adsum, a Queen Village bistro where he gained notoriety for dishes including Tastykake sliders and his Four Loco dinner. In March 2012, along with Cuba Libre owners Barry Gutin and Larry Cohen, he will take over as chef and co-owner of Square Peg, at the former location of Marathon Grill at 10th and Walnut St.
Levin attended Syracuse University on a lacrosse scholarship, studying business. He then went on to study at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York.
As a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Levin began his culinary career training under chefs including Georges Perrier at Le Bec-Fin and Brasserie Perrier and Craig Shelton at The Ryland Inn. Levin eventually went on to distinguished restaurants such as Aureole in New York City, Charlie Trotters in Chicago, The Millhouse in Langhorne and The Pluckemin Inn in Bedminster, New Jersey. [2]
Levin drew national attention as executive chef at the Moonlight Restaurant in New Hope, Pennsylvania. Bon Appetit reported, “Levin’s culinary creations now share the spotlight with art, thanks to "Moonlight"." [3] [ verification needed ] The Philadelphia Inquirer food critic Craig LaBan awarded Moonlight three bells. [4]
Levin returned to his hometown of Philadelphia in 2006 to join the kitchen at Lacroix. Soon after his arrival, critic Craig LaBan once again reviewed Levin's work and awarded the cuisine a rare four bells stating, "Chef Levin has elevated this luxury destination to an elite four-bell status", hailing Levin's creations as "Philly’s most sophisticated contemporary cooking". Lifestyle Magazine named Levin among the region's best chefs and Philadelphia Style magazine named Levin one of Philadelphia's "Hot Chefs in 2007". [6] In 2008, Philadelphia Magazine rated Lacroix #2 out of the top 50 restaurants in Philadelphia. [7]
At the end of 2008 Levin left Lacroix to open his own restaurant. [8] In 2008 it was reported that the restaurant, Masano, was slated to open late 2009 or early 2010. [9] The deal for Masano, and another restaurant, later fell through. [10] In 2010 Levin plans on opening Adsum bistro. [10] [11] In January 2013 critic Craig Laban would go to write a scathing review of Levin's Square Peg.
Masaharu Morimoto is a Japanese chef, best known as an Iron Chef on the Japanese TV cooking show Iron Chef and its spinoff Iron Chef America. He is also known for his unique style of presenting food.
Le Bec-Fin was a French restaurant in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, that first opened in 1970. Owner and founder Georges Perrier named the restaurant after the French colloquialism for "fine palate". The restaurant had been rated America's finest French restaurant, and the Mobil Travel Guide traditionally awarded it five stars. Although Perrier announced in July 2010 that he planned to close the restaurant in spring 2011, he waited until February 2012 to sell Le Bec-Fin to one of its former managers, Nicolas Fanucci, who re-opened Le Bec-Fin in June 2012. The restaurant closed for good in June 2013.

Friedman Paul Erhardt was a German American pioneering early television chef. He was known as "Chef Tell" to his 40 million fans. He is widely regarded as one of the first chefs to enjoy widespread popularity on American television. Former Philadelphia Inquirer food writer, Elaine Tait, wrote, "Chef Tell is America's pioneer TV showman chef whose food always tastes good." Erhardt's thick German accent reportedly made him the inspiration for the Swedish Chef, a well known Muppet character on The Muppet Show, although Brian Henson denies this.
Alain Chapel was a French chef, credited with being one of the originators of Nouvelle Cuisine. He earned three Michelin stars.

Jose Garces is an Ecuadorian American chef, restaurant owner, and Iron Chef. He was born in Chicago to Ecuadorian parents. He won in the second season of The Next Iron Chef. Garces studied Culinary Arts at Kendall College in Chicago, graduating in 1996.

She was awarded the position of chef de cuisine at Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Paris Las Vegas. After 2015, she was the Corporate Executive Chef of Gordon Ramsay Restaurant Group. In 2016 and from 2018 onward, she has also returned to Hell's Kitchen as a Sous-chef. Since 2020, she has been the VP Culinary of Gordon Ramsay North America.
