Maurice Jones Sr. (born December 20, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Moncton Magic of the National Basketball League of Canada. He played college basketball for USC and Northwood.
Jones was a star basketball player at Arthur Hill High School. He led the Lumberjacks to the 2010 Class A quarterfinals. Jones averaged 30 points, 12 assists, five rebounds and four steals as a senior. [1]
Jones played two seasons at USC. As a freshman, he was the starting point guard and averaged 9.9 points a game and set the school freshman record for steals in a season with 69. Jones averaged 13 points, 3.5 assists and 1.8 steals per game as a sophomore. [1] In September 2012, Jones was ruled academically ineligible at USC. [2] He decided to transfer to Iowa State, but he was academically ineligible there as well. As a result, he transferred again to NCAA Division II school Northwood. His friend Darvin Ham, who played at Northwood, suggested he give the small Michigan school a chance. Jones was forced to miss two years of basketball. [1] He posted 14.8 points, 6.6 assists and 2.4 steals per game as a junior at Northwood. [3] As a senior, Jones averaged 21 points and 5.7 assists per game. [4] He had a 41-point game against Lake Superior State, setting the school record. Jones was named to the First Team All-GLIAC. [5]
Jones signed with the Windsor Express in 2016 and averaged 9.9 points, 3.7 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game as a rookie. He broke league record with 320 assists as well as leading NBL Canada with 83 steals. He was named NBL Canada Rookie of the Year in 2017. [6] In his second season, Jones averaged 18 points and six assists per game, leading the league in total steals with 91. He scored 50 points in his final regular season game against the KW Titans. Jones was named to the Third Team All-NBL Canada as well as the league all-defensive team. In September 2018, Jones's rights were traded by the Windsor Express to the St. John's Edge in exchange for Grandy Glaze. [7] He averaged 22 points, 5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2 steals per game with Sudbury. [8]
He signed a contract with the Saskatchewan Rattlers on July 21, 2019. [9] On December 4, 2019, Jones was acquired by the Moncton Magic in a trade for Justin Moss. [8] He was released in February 2020. [10]
Kirk Samuel Penney is a New Zealand professional basketball player. He is the all-time leading scorer for New Zealand’s National Team. He ranks 12th all-time in points scored at the FIBA World Cup. He played four years of college basketball for the Wisconsin Badgers between 1999 and 2003, where he was twice named first-team all-conference and an all-American. He became the second New Zealander in the NBA when he appeared briefly for the Miami Heat in 2003 and the Los Angeles Clippers in 2005, and went on to play professionally in Spain, the NBA Development League, Israel, Lithuania, Germany and Turkey. He also played six seasons for the New Zealand Breakers of the Australian National Basketball League (NBL). He was named the NBL MVP in 2009, named to the NBL first-team four times, led the NBL in scoring three times and won an NBL championship with the Breakers in 2011.
James Alfred Ennis III is an American professional basketball player who last played for Hebei Xianglan of the Chinese National Basketball League. He played two years of Division 1 college basketball for Long Beach State, where he became a standout as a senior, earning Big West Player of the Year honors. After being selected by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the 2013 NBA draft, Ennis moved to Australia and joined the Perth Wildcats. There he won an NBL championship and became a Perth favorite. He returned to the United States in 2014 in pursuit of an NBA contract, and subsequently joined the Miami Heat. He went on to spend time with the Memphis Grizzlies and the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2015–16 season, as well as in the NBA Development League with the Iowa Energy. He re-joined the Grizzlies in July 2016, and was traded to the Pistons in February 2018. He then split the 2018–19 season with the Houston Rockets and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Marcel Xavier Jones is an American-New Zealand professional basketball player. He played college basketball for the Oregon State Beavers between 2004 and 2008 before embarking on a professional career that spanned across the globe, from Europe and the Middle East, to his adoptive home of New Zealand. Since 2009, Jones has had consistent yearly stints in the New Zealand NBL, largely due to gaining New Zealand citizenship in 2012. He also played consistently in the Persian Gulf region between 2017 and 2022.
Romelo Delante Trimble is an American professional basketball player for CSKA Moscow of the VTB United League. He played at Bishop Denis J. O'Connell High School in Arlington, Virginia, where he was a McDonald's All-American. He played college basketball at the University of Maryland. He is considered to be one of Maryland's greatest point guards in recent history.
Clifford Clinkscales is an American professional basketball assistant coach for the KW Titans of the National Basketball League of Canada and a former player. A 6-foot-1-inch (1.85 m) point guard, Clinkscales began playing professionally in 2008, with two seasons in the NBA Development League. He spent most of his professional career in NBL Canada, playing from 2013 to 2020 in Halifax for the Rainmen and the Hurricanes. With the Halifax Hurricanes, he set the record for the most career assists in NBL Canada history.
Anthony Nathaniel Anderson, also known by his initials as Double A, is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Moncton Magic of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Standing 5 ft 11 in (1.80 m), he plays the point guard position. Anderson has played in the NBL Canada with the Riptide and Mill Rats for nearly six seasons. As of February 2016, he is the league's all-time leading scorer and is known as one of its most prominent players. Anderson also played for Saint John and their previous incarnation, the Manchester Millrats, in the Premier Basketball League (PBL) and the American Basketball Association (ABA).
Stefan Bonneau is an American former professional basketball player. Born in Middletown, Orange County, New York, Bonneau played high school basketball for Middletown. He then played for the SUNY Orange Colts of the NJCAA. After graduating, he enrolled in LIU Post to play for the Pioneers in NCAA Division II. In both his seasons with the Pioneers, Bonneau won the East Coast Conference (ECC) championships and was named All-ECC Player of the Year.
Adrian Moss is an American professional basketball player who last played for the Windsor Express of the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). Born in Centralia, Illinois, he played high school basketball for Franklin Community High School. Following his graduation, he committed to IUPUI to play college basketball. After his sophomore season at IUPUI he transferred to the University of Indianapolis, where he played for two more seasons.
Papa Kwaku Oppong is a Canadian former professional basketball player in the National Basketball League of Canada (NBL). He is currently a teacher at an unknown school in Ontario. Oppong competed with three different college basketball teams from 2006 to 2010.
