Michael James Grace (born June 20,1970),is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played all or part of five seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB),from 1995 through 1999,all for the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Major League Baseball Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual Major League Baseball (MLB) award given to one outstanding player in the American League and one in the National League. Since 1931, it has been awarded by the Baseball Writers' Association of America (BBWAA). Until 2020, the winners received the Kenesaw Mountain Landis Memorial Baseball Award, which became the official name of the award in 1944, in honor of the first MLB commissioner, Kenesaw Mountain Landis, who served from 1920 until his death on November 25, 1944. Starting in 2020, Landis’ name no longer appeared on the MVP trophy after the BBWAA received complaints from several former MVP winners about the late Commissioner’s role against integration of MLB.

José Alberto Pujols Alcántara is a Dominican-American professional baseball first baseman and designated hitter for the St. Louis Cardinals of Major League Baseball (MLB). Nicknamed "The Machine", he played his first 11 seasons in MLB for the Cardinals, then played with the Los Angeles Angels for more than nine seasons before joining the Los Angeles Dodgers for half a season. With St. Louis, Pujols he was a three-time National League (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) and nine-time All-Star. After joining the Angels in 2012, he made one All-Star appearance, in 2015. After returning to the St Louis Cardinals in 2022 he was elected again as an all-star.

Cap Anson was the first to do so, although his precise career hit total is unclear; he is the oldest player to have achieved the mark, having done so at the age of 45. Two players—Nap Lajoie and Honus Wagner—reached 3,000 hits during the 1914 season. Ty Cobb did so in 1921 and became the first player in MLB history to reach 4,000 hits in 1927, ultimately finishing his career with 4,189. Pete Rose, the current hit leader, was the second player to reach 4,000 hits on April 13, 1984 and surpassed Cobb in September 1985, finishing his career with 4,256. Roberto Clemente's career ended with precisely 3,000 hits, which he reached in the last at bat of his career on September 30, 1972.
