Milk Colony is a small layout situated in Malleswaram in Bangalore. Milk Colony gets its name from the profession of the community who settled down there during the 1960s. Most of the people are working class. People here speak predominantly Kannada.

Location

Milk Colony is bordered with Yeshwantpur, Malleswaram and Rajajinagar. It is situated next to the Brigade Gateway. ISKCON Sri Radha Krishna temple is the nearest place of attraction, and Yeshwantpur and Malleswaram are the nearest railway stations.

The erstwhile Raja Mill (Mantri Greens now occupies this plot) workers were given houses at this place and was called Raja Mill Colony, which later on was shortened to Milk colony. If the older gazettes or the older property papers mention it as Krishnrajawodeyar Mill colony.

There is a big sports field in the Milk Colony.

A mail cart ran from Kareli to Sagar, a distance of 122 km (76 mi). The trade of Kareli has now considerably declined, but it is still the exporting station for the southern parts of the Rehli tahsil of Sagar and the north of Narsinghpur. A cotton-ginning factory, the property of Raja Gokul Das, was opened in 1904. This is the nearest rail station and market for towns of Sagar district. Kareli is also educational hub for nearby area Schools like Govt. C.M.Rise School, Carmel School, Mahatma Gandhi College and many coaching institutes are situated. Agriculture based business are still doing well in the area like Kareli Sugar Mills, Dal Mills, there are many Tuar dal Mills in the city like Chacha Dal Mill, Oil plants like Shubham industries, Flour Mills like Malviya Mills, Jaggery Factories.
