The Ministry of Internal Affairs And Law is the governmental body of Koshi Province responsible for peace and security, provincial investigation bureau, disaster management, provincial assembly affairs, communication and formulation of provincial level laws. [2]

Overview

According to the constitution of Nepal, the provinces have been established in the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, as provided for in the three-tier government structure. Koshi province is one of the seven provinces in Nepal. There are 14 districts Bhojpur, Dhankuta, Ilam, Jhapa, Khotang, Morang, Okhaldhunga, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Solukhumbu, Sunsari , Taplejung, Terhathum and Udayapur, and 1 metropolitan cities , 2 sub-metropolitan city , There are a total of 49 local levels consisting of municipalities and 88 rural municipalities. After Nepal was transformed into a federal structure and the system of union, state and local government was completed in the year 2017, the three-level elections were completed and the provincial government was formed 15 February 2018. [2] The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law is one of the seven ministries established and operating in this Koshi Province. [2] The main work of the Ministry is to maintain peace, security and order in the entire province, to protect and promote the fundamental right of freedom of expression of the people and to receive information guaranteed by the Constitution of Nepal and to provide transparency and information for good governance. It is to provide real justice by assisting in the establishment of a legal state. [4] [5] [6]

The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning is the governmental body of Koshi Province, Nepal, it is responsible for the analysis of the economic situation of the province and the formulation, implementation and regulation of economic policies, the allocation of financial resources at the provincial level, the formulation, implementation and regulation of policies and laws related to financial management and provincial revenue.

The Second Uddhav Thapa cabinet was the 6th provincial government of Koshi Province. It was formed after Uddhav Thapa was sworn in as Chief Minister of Koshi Province on 2 August 2023.

Kedar Karki is a Nepalese politician and member of Provincial Assembly. Karki had served as the Chief Minister of Koshi Province since 15 October 2023. He is also serving as member of Koshi Provincial Assembly having been elected from Morang 6 (B).

The Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy is the governmental body of Koshi Province, Nepal, responsible for managing drinking water, irrigation, electricity, water-borne disasters at the Provincial level.

The Ministry of Social Development is a governmental body of Koshi Province responsible for the welfare of the society and does all social development work. Its purpose is to take care of the development work related to the social development of the society.

The Office of the Chief Minister and Council of Ministers is a political and bureaucratic office that assists the Council of Ministers of Koshi Province and the Chief Minister of Koshi Province in the leadership of the Council of Ministers and Government. The incumbent Chief Minister is Hikmat Kumar Karki and the current council of ministers is the Third Hikmat Karki cabinet.

Lila Ballabh Adhikari is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal. He has served as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law in Koshi Province. Adhikari has been serving as a member of the Koshi Provincial Assembly from Morang 2 (B) since 2017. He had previously served as the Minister for Internal Affairs and Law in Bhim Acharya's cabinet from 15 September 2021 to 1 November 2021.

Ram Bahadur Ranamagar is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the CPN. He is currently serving as the Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning of Koshi Province since 9 May 2024. Ranamagar has been serving as a member of the Koshi Provincial Assembly from Ilam 2(B) constituency since 2017.

Rajendra Karki is Nepalese politician, belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal Party. He is currently serving as the Minister for Health in the Government of Koshi Province. Karki had served as the Minister for Social Development in Kedar Karki's cabinet from 9 February to 8 April 2024.

Bananda Jhangad is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal Party. Jhangad serving as the Minister of State for Tourism, Forests and Environment in the Government of Koshi Province. She is currently serving as a member of the 2nd Koshi Provincial Assembly.
