The Minneapolis Marathon was a marathon held in late May or early June in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The first race was held in 2009. In addition to the marathon, there was also half-marathon and 5K run. The course had sections of flats and hills. Most of the course followed the Mississippi Riverfront. The race was not held after 2015.

The Nottingham 'Robin Hood' Marathon, is a race in Nottingham, England held every year since 1981. The race today incorporates a half-marathon and a fun-run. A corporate relay event is also held in which teams of five runners from local companies and businesses run legs of 2–3 miles on the half-marathon course.

The Cleveland Marathon is an annual marathon in Cleveland, Ohio. The 26.2-mile (42.2 km) course begins at the corner of St. Clair and 9th and participants have eight hours to finish the race. The first edition was held in 1978. A half marathon, and 10K, including a Corporate Team Challenge, are held concurrently with the full marathon. A 5k race is held on the day before the marathon race day.

The Portland Marathon Presented by OHSU Health is an annual sporting event which takes place on the first Sunday of October in Portland, Oregon, first held in 1972. The race starts and ends at the Tom McCall Waterfront Park at Salmon Street and Naito Parkway, and includes several bridge crossings and multiple iconic landmarks in Portland. Irina Permitina is a Russian long distance runner, who won the bronze medal in the marathon at the 2006 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg. She is the women's course record holder for the Twin Cities Marathon in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, along with fellow Russian Zinaida Semenova, who ran the same time in 2001.

The 2017 Tokyo Marathon was the eleventh edition of the annual marathon race in Tokyo, Japan and was held on Sunday, 26 February. An IAAF Gold Label Road Race, it was the first World Marathon Majors event to be held that year. The men's race was won by Wilson Kipsang in a New Course Record of 2:03:58. The women's race was won by Sarah Chepchirchir.

The Med City Marathon is an annual marathon in Rochester, Minnesota, started 1996. The race course is certified by the USATF and is one of the races in the US that can qualify a runner for the Boston Marathon. Although the race was formerly a point-to-point course from the Rochester International Airport, to the Mayo Civic Center in downtown Rochester, the 25th running in 2021 saw a course change to a two-loop route around the city. Previously, Mayo Clinic and Scheels were main sponsors of the marathon. In 2021, Rochester's Active PT and Sports became the main sponsor.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Ely Marathon</span>

The Ely Marathon is a race in Ely, Minnesota, first run in 2015. After successfully adding a sanctioned "canoe portager" category in the half marathon, the category was added to the marathon in 2018. In the "canoe portage," runners can compete with the others who carry a canoe over their heads, deeming the race "the 8,390 rod portage." It is the only marathon portage in the world, so the first finisher in 2018 set a world record. The record was broken in 2019 by more than 23 minutes. In 2016, Daniel Drehmel ran the marathon with his partner, Abby Dare, and the two of them took turns carrying the canoe in order to raise awareness about the potential threats to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Dominic Ondoro is a Kenyan long-distance runner best known for holding the course records at Minnesota's Grandma's Marathon and the Twin Cities Marathon. He has won many other major marathons, some multiple times, such as the 2017 and 2023 Houston Marathon in Texas, his two Melbourne Marathon wins in Australia and his unrivaled four Twin Cities Marathon wins in Minneapolis-St. Paul.

The 2020 Tokyo Marathon was the fourteenth edition of the annual marathon race in Tokyo, and was held on Sunday, 1 March. A World Athletics Platinum Label Road Race, it was the first World Marathon Majors event held that year. Last year's winner, Birhanu Legese, successfully defended his title by winning with a time of 2:04:15, while Lonah Chemtai Salpeter set a new course record as well as a new Israeli national record by winning with a time of 2:17:45. The men's wheelchair race was won by Japanese racer Tomoki Suzuki, and the women's wheelchair race was won by Japanese racer Tsubasa Kina.
