Rao Mitra Sen Ahir, an Ahir from Behror, became the ruler of Ahirwal in the 18th century with capital at Rewari. [1] He fought against many enemies, including Muslims, Marathas, British and Kachhwaha (Shekhawat) rulers of Jaipur. [2]

He also fought Battle of Mandan and annexed Mandan, Jhunjhunu etc. In 1785, a Maratha expedition to Rewari was repelled by Rao Mitra Sen of Rewari. Shortly afterwards, he died. The Marathas tried to invade again, but suffered heavy loss by Rao Raja Ram Singh of Rewari. [3] [4]

Legacy

Every year in the months of May-June, there is a fair organized at the border near Lisan-Gokalgarh villages in the memory of Rao Mitra sen. Khichdi is made and women sing bhajan in local dialect i.e. Ahirwati. [5]

Ahirwal is a region spanning parts of southern Haryana, north-eastern Rajasthan, and South-Western Delhi The region was once a small principality based from the town of Rewari and controlled by members of the Yaduvanshi Ahir community from around the time when the Mughal empire was in decline.

Maharaja Rao Birender Singh was an Indian politician. He coined an Indian political vocabulary Aya Ram, Gaya Ram to describe the practice of frequently floor-crossing by legislature.

Karoli is a village located in Kosli Tehsil, Rewari District, Haryana, India. It is on the 1.5-kilometre approach road boarded to Bahu-Jholri on the Kosli–Kanina road and is 12 kilometres from Kosli and 7 kilometres from Kanina. The villages is 125 kilometres from Delhi, the capital of India. It is a large village with an approximate population of 5,000 to 5,500. There is an average of one person in the army from each family. Smt. Kamala Devi is second ladies sarpanch of the village after Smt. Bhoori Devi. Aphariya (Abhirya) also spelt as Affariya, Afariya or Phariya) is a clan of Yaduvanshi Aheer or Yadava. Aphariyas ruled the Ahirwal state of Haryana.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rao Gopal Dev</span> Revolutionary leader in 19th century India

Rao Gopaldev, also known as Raja Gopal Singh Yadav (1829–1862), was a nineteenth-century revolutionary leader in Rewari, Ahirwal, who allied himself with his cousin, Maharaja Rao Tula Singh Yadav, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. He was sixth generation descendant of famous Maharaja Rao Shahbaz Singh and first cousin of Rao Tula Singh. He inherited personal jagir of 841 villages after the death of his father Raja Rao Nathu Ram in 1855. His cousin Maharaja Rao Tula Singh Made him commander in chief of Armed forces of Rewari State.

The Mughal–Rajput wars were a series of battles between the Rajput Confederacy and the Mughal Empire. The conflicts originated with the invasion of northwestern India by the Mughal ruler Babur, to which the head of the Rajput confederacy, Rana Sanga, offered staunch resistance.

Rao Ruda Singh was an Ahir King and a scion of the family of Raos which have ruled over Rajasthan since the eighth century A.D. who cleared the jungle in Ahirwal in 1555 and founded new villages.

The Battle of Mandan was fought between the Shekhawat chiefs and the Mughal Empire due to their refusal to pay tribute to the emperor. The Mughals were Helped by Ahirs of Rewari under Mitra Sen Ahir and the Baloch chieftains Peero Khan and Kale Khan.
