Mo is a village in Surnadal Municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The small farming village lies along the river Surna in the upper part of the Surnadalen valley, about 15 kilometres (9.3 mi) east of the municipal centre of Skei. The small village is home to Mo Church, the oldest church in the municipality. There is also a pre-school located in Mo.

The Surna is a river in Trøndelag and Møre og Romsdal counties in Norway. It runs from Rindal Municipality to Surnadal Municipality. The 45-kilometre (28 mi) long river begins near Øvre Rindal at the confluence of the rivers Tiåa and Lomunda. The river then flows west and empties into the Surnadalsfjorden at the village of Surnadalsøra. Several smaller rivers flow into the Surna from the Trollheimen mountains to the south. The Foldsjøen and Gråsjøen reservoirs along the Folda River also flow into the Surna. The river is a good fishing river. The Brandåa, Gryta, and Kysinga hydroelectric power stations operate on tributaries of the river.

Stangvik is a former municipality in Møre og Romsdal county, Norway. The 437-square-kilometre (169 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1965. The municipality of Stangvik encompassed much of the area surrounding the Trongfjorden and the smaller fjords that branch off of it such as the Ålvundfjorden, Stangvikfjorden, and Todalsfjorden. The municipality was mostly located in what is now Surnadal Municipality and also small portions of what is now Sunndal Municipality and Tingvoll Municipality. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Stangvik where Stangvik Church is located.
