Abdul Jabbar Naeemi is an Afghan diplomat and politician. He is the current Governor of Laghman Province in Afghanistan. Before this he was the governor of Khost province and before that the governor of Maidan Wardk province of Afghanistan. At one time he served as a representative from Kandahar Province to the Loya Jirga. In 2004 he was Hamid Karzai's election agent in Pakistan, where he campaigned for Karzai and worked on educating local Afghans about the democratic process.
Fazlullah Mujadedi also spelled as is a Tajik politician in Afghanistan, previously serving as Governor of Laghman Province. He was one of the prominent commanders of Jamiat-e Islami during the 1980s Soviet–Afghan War. He was amongst the earliest generation of anti-soviet fighters from Kabul University, which included Amin Wardak, Zabihullah of Marmul in Balkh and Ahmad Shah Massoud.
Qarghayi District has 60 villages. It is the largest district in Laghman Province, and is located 30 km from the provincial centre of Mihtarlam. It borders Mihtarlam District to the north, Alingar District to the northeast, Nangarhar Province to the south and Kabul Province to the west. The population is 86,900 (2006) - 60% Pashtun, 20% Tajik and 20% Pashai. The district center is the village of Lalkhanabad, located between the Kabul River and its tributary the Alingar river.
Nijrāb District,, also called Nijrāw, is situated in the central part of Kapisa Province, Afghanistan. It is located in a valley about 120 km northeast of Kabul. It borders Mahmud Raqi and Koh Band districts to the west, Parwan Province to the north, Laghman Province and Alasay District to the east and Tagab District to the south. The district center is Nijrab, located in the southern part of the district. The population of Nijrab District is 99,600 (2006), making it the most populous district of Kapisa.
Chapa Dara District is situated in the western part of Kunar Province, Afghanistan and borders Nuristan Province. The population is 27,500 (2006). The district is mountainous and farming and animal husbandry are not possible in the whole district. Some people work abroad. Health care and the education need improvement.

Gulab Mangal, is the former Governor of Helmand, Afghanistan, and the former Governor of Laghman and Paktika. He also served as head of the Committee that drafted Afghanistan's most recent Constitution. Mangal was considered an effective governor by both diplomats and military officials in Afghanistan.
Ibrahimkhel or Ibrahimkhil (Pashto:ابراهيمخيل) are a major Pashtun tribe. The Ibrahimkhel live in places such as Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Qunduz, Mazar-e-sharif, Herat, Peshawar, Quetta Upper Dir and some other parts of Pashtunistan also in a small village of swat district named BIHA near matta. All the historical references show that Ibrahimkhel are the descendants of the Ghiljis. The Ibrahimkhel are known to be the most prevalent sub-tribe of the Babars. They primarily reside in Pirpiai, Chaudhwan, Multan, Ibrahimkhel Kot, Zhob, Qila Saifullah, Dera Ghazi Khan in Pakistan. In Afghanistan, they have communities in Kandahar and Sheberghan. Lutfullah Mashal is a politician in Afghanistan who last served as spokesman for the National Directorate of Security (NDS). Prior to that he was Governor of Laghman province. He is also a writer and a poet.
Mohammad Iqbal Azizi is an ethnic Pashtun politician in Afghanistan, who served as Governor of Laghman since March 2010. He previously served as head of the Education Department in Nangarhar Province. Azizi is an ethnic Pashtun from the Mangal tribe.
Nuristan District was a district in eastern Afghanistan. It was originally in Laghman Province and then was moved to the new Nuristan Province in 2001. In 2004 it was divided into Du Ab District and Nurgram District, and ceased to exist.

Operation Tar Heels was a military operation launched by US Marines in Laghman Province, eastern Afghanistan. Patrols of around 30 men were ambushed in several places, but the Taliban attackers were driven back. The Marines lost team leader Nicholas Kirven in the meantime. Otherwise, the operation to patrol Laghman Province was a success.
The 2013 Laghman earthquake occurred with magnitude of 5.6, with an epicenter 11 km from Mehtar Lam, the capital of Afghanistan's eastern province of Laghman Province near Jalalabad, Afghanistan at 09:25 UTC on April 24. The quake took place 6.6 km down the surface. The tremors were also felt in the neighboring Pakistan and India. There were no immediate reports of any casualty or injury.
