The 0.63-square-kilometre (160-acre) village has a population (2023) of 915 which gives the village a population density of 1,452 inhabitants per square kilometre (3,760/sq mi).

Havvannet (Norwegian) or Vuolit Áhpelanjávri (Northern Sami) is a lake in Måsøy Municipality in Finnmark county, Norway. The 3.69 square kilometres (1.42 sq mi) lake lies isolated in the mountains on the Porsanger Peninsula about 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) northeast of the village of Kokelv in Hammerfest Municipality. The lake sits at an elevation of 293-metre (961 ft) above sea level. The village of Slåtten lies about 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) northwest of the lake.

County Road 889 is 85.3 kilometers (53.0 mi) long and runs between the villages of Smørfjord and Havøysund in Finnmark, Norway. The road runs through Porsanger Municipality, Hammerfest Municipality and Måsøy Municipality, and passes the small villages of Kokelv, Selkop, Lillefjord, Latter, Slåtten, Snefjord, Krokelv and Bakfjord. At Smørfjord, the road branches from E69. It crosses to Havøysund across the Havøysund Bridge. The section from Kokelv to Havøysund is designated one of eighteen National Tourist Routes in Norway.

It is an annex chapel for the Måsøy parish which is part of the Hammerfest prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in 1986. The church seats about 77 people.
