Michaela Alica Breeze is a British former weightlifter. Breeze was born in Watford and raised in Cornwall and educated at Wadebridge School. She started weightlifting under the guidance of PE teacher Dave Allen. Breeze then went on to Bodmin Community College before attending the University of Wales Institute, Cardiff. Breeze is well known for commentating at various events including Rio Olympics and Tokyo Olympics.
Nicolae "Nicu" Vlad is a retired heavyweight weightlifter from Romania. He competed for Romania at the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won a gold, a silver and a bronze medal. He won the world title in 1984, 1986 and 1990 and European title in 1985 and 1986 and set world records in the snatch in 1986 and 1993. Between 1991 and 1996, he lived in Australia and competed for it internationally. In 2006, he was elected member of the International Weightlifting Federation Hall of Fame. He is still especially noteworthy for achieving the heaviest-ever snatch of double-bodyweight—lifting 200.5 kg in the 100 kg class.
Lydia Valentín Pérez is a Spanish retired weightlifter, Olympic Champion, 2 time World Champion and 4 time European Champion competing in the 75 kg category until 2018 and 81 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Lydia has won three Olympic Medals, two World Weightlifting Championships, as well as four European Weightlifting Championships.
Tatiana Yuryevna Kashirina is a Russian Olympic weightlifter, Olympic silver medalist, five time World Champion and eight time European Champion competing in the +90 kg and +75 kg categories until 2018 and +87 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. On 9 September 2023, the Court of Arbitration for Sport annulled over four years of her results due to drugs offenses, stating, "All the competitive results obtained by Tatiana Kashirina from 1 April 2013 until 19 June 2017 were disqualified, with all the resulting consequences, including the forfeiture of any titles, awards, medals, points and prize and appearance money."
Cristina Iovu is a Moldovan–born Azerbaijani-Romanian weightlifter competing in the –53 kg division. She is banned by the International Weightlifting Federation until 2026 for Blood substitution.
Loredana Elena Toma is a Romanian weightlifter, two time World Champion and four time European Champion competing in the 58 kg and 63 kg categories until 2018 and 64 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. She now competes at the 71kg category. In 2014 she tested positive for Stanozolol and was banned for two years by the International Weightlifting Federation.
This article details the qualifying phase for weightlifting at the 2016 Summer Olympics. The competition at these Games includes 260 athletes. Each competing nation is allowed to enter a maximum of 10 competitors, 6 men and 4 women. 2014 and 2015 World Weightlifting Championships are the main qualifying events for the 2016 Olympic games. NOCs achieve qualification places according to their position in the joint team classification by points adding those scored in the 2014 and 2015 World Championships. One continental qualification event is held for each continent in 2016. Only NOCs which have not gained quota places in the Main Qualification Events may obtain quota places.

Martha Ann "Mattie" Rogers is an American Olympic weightlifter. She is a four-time silver medalist at the World Weightlifting Championships. She holds the United States record in the snatch, clean & jerk, and total in the 76 kg category. She competed for the United States at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the 87 kg category.
Ecaterina Tretiacova is a Moldovan female weightlifter, competing in the 75 kg category and representing Moldova at international competitions. She competed at European and world championships, including at the 2013 European Weightlifting Championships, 2014 European Weightlifting Championships and 2015 World Weightlifting Championships. She also competed multiple times at the Junior and Youth editions of European and world championships, ranking in top 10.
Iurie Dudoglo is a Moldovan male weightlifter, competing in the 56/62 kg category and representing Moldova at international competitions. He competed at world championships, including at the 2010, 2011, and 2015 World Weightlifting Championships. He also competed for Moldova at 2010, 2016, and 2017 European Weightlifting Championships. In 2018 he was issued a ban until 2025 by the International Weightlifting Federation after testing positive for Clenbuterol.
Gheorghe Cernei is a Moldovan-born Romanian male weightlifter, competing in the 85 kg category and representing Romania at international competitions. He competed at world championships, including at the 2015 World Weightlifting Championships. He won the bronze medal at the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships. Previously he represented Moldova in youth international competitions. In late 2013 he was suspended by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in view of an anti-doping rule violation.
Andrian Zbîrnea is a Moldovan male weightlifter, competing in the 105 kg category and representing Moldova at international competitions. He competed at world championships, most recently at the 2014 World Weightlifting Championships. At the 2015 European Weightlifting Championships Zbîrnea won the silver medal in overall ranking.
Elena Ramona Andrieș is a Romanian weightlifter, and two time European Champion competing in the 48 kg category until 2018 and 49 kg starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. representing Romania at international competitions.

Kamila Konotop is a Ukrainian weightlifter. She won the silver medal in the women's 59 kg event at the 2023 World Weightlifting Championships held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. She is a four-time medalist, including three gold medals, at the European Weightlifting Championships. In 2021, Konotop represented Ukraine at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
Tatev Hakobyan is an Armenian weightlifter. She won the silver medal in the women's 76 kg event at the 2023 European Weightlifting Championships held in Yerevan, Armenia. She also won the bronze medal in the women's 90 kg event at the 2017 European Weightlifting Championships held in Split, Croatia.
