Natalie Toro is a Democratic member of the Illinois Senate from the 20th district. [1] She was sworn in on July 10,2023. [2] She was appointed to the vacancy created by the resignation of Cristina Pacione-Zayas. [3] [4]
Toro was appointed to temporarily replace Cristina Pacione-Zayas in 2023,with a special election to be held in 2024 to fill the remainder of the term,after Pacione-Zayas left the Illinois Senate to join the administration of Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. [3] In March 2024,Toro was defeated by Graciela Guzmán in the Democratic primary in advance of the special election.

The Illinois House of Representatives is the lower house of the Illinois General Assembly. The body was created by the first Illinois Constitution adopted in 1818. The House under the current constitution as amended in 1980 consists of 118 representatives elected from individual legislative districts for two-year terms with no limits;redistricted every 10 years,based on the 2010 U.S. census each representative represents approximately 108,734 people.
