Courtney Andrew Walsh OJ is a former Jamaican cricketer who represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001,captaining the West Indies in 22 Test matches. He is a fast bowler and considered one of the all-time greats,best known for a remarkable opening bowling partnership along with fellow West Indian Curtly Ambrose for several years. Walsh played 132 Tests and 205 ODIs for the West Indies and took 519 and 227 wickets respectively. He shared 421 Test wickets with Ambrose in 49 matches. He held the record of most Test wickets from 2000,after he broke the record of Kapil Dev. This record was later broken in 2004 by Shane Warne. He was the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in Test cricket. His autobiography is entitled "Heart of the Lion". Walsh was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1987. In October 2010,he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was appointed as the Specialist Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team in August 2016.
Christopher Henry GayleOD is a Jamaican cricketer who has been playing international cricket for the West Indies since 1999. Nicknamed "The Universe Boss",Gayle is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most destructive batsmen to have played Twenty20 cricket,and by some as the best ever. He played a crucial role in the West Indies teams that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy,2012 ICC World Twenty20 and 2016 ICC World Twenty20.
Shivnarine "Shiv" Chanderpaul is a Guyanese cricket coach and former captain of the West Indies cricket team. Considered one of the greatest batsmen of his era,Chanderpaul is the 10th highest run scorer of all time in International cricket and the 8th highest in test cricket. Chanderpaul was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy,and in the 2004 ICC Champions Trophy Final,he had the highest contribution for West Indies with the bat scoring 47 runs.
Michael Anthony Holding is a Jamaican former cricketer and commentator who played for the West Indies cricket team. Widely regarded as one of the greatest pace bowlers in cricket history,he was nicknamed "Whispering Death" due to his silent,light-footed run up to the bowling crease. Holding was a key member of the West Indies team that won the 1979 Cricket World Cup,and had the most wickets for his team at the tournament. His bowling action was famously smooth and extremely fast,and he used his height to generate large amounts of bounce and zip off the pitch. He was part of the fearsome West Indian pace bowling battery,together with Andy Roberts,Joel Garner,Colin Croft,Wayne Daniel,Malcolm Marshall and Sylvester Clarke,that devastated opposing batting line-ups throughout the world in the late seventies and early eighties. Early in his Test career,in 1976,Holding broke the record for best bowling figures in a Test match by a West Indies bowler,14 wickets for 149 runs (14/149). The record still stands. During his first-class cricket career,Holding played for Jamaica,Canterbury,Derbyshire,Lancashire and Tasmania. In September 2021,Holding announced his retirement from being a commentator.
Sir Frank Mortimer Maglinne Worrell,sometimes referred to by his nickname of Tae,was a West Indies cricketer and Jamaican senator. A stylish right-handed batsman and useful left-arm seam bowler,he became famous in the 1950s as the second black captain of the West Indies cricket team. Along with Everton Weekes and Clyde Walcott,he formed what was known as "The Three Ws" of the West Indian cricket. He was the first of the two batsmen to have been involved in two 500-run partnerships in first-class cricket,the latter being Ravindra Jadeja.

Balfour Patrick Patterson is a former fast bowler for the West Indian cricket team in the mid 1980s to early 1990s. He is remarkable in that,in an era when the West Indies dominated world cricket through strength of fast bowling,and produced a galaxy of fast bowling stars,he is frequently acknowledged as the fastest of those that played. The West Indies wicket keeper Jeff Dujon,who kept wicket to all of them,stated that Patterson was the quickest he had kept wickets to.
Jerome Everton Taylor is a Jamaican cricketer who has played as a fast bowler for the West Indies. Taylor eventually picked up 100 wickets for the Windies in both tests and odis. During 2017 he reversed an initial decision to retire from international cricket. Taylor has also featured for Jamaica,English sides Somerset,Leicestershire and Sussex,CPL teams St Lucia Zouks and Jamaica Tallawahs and IPL sides Pune Warriors and Mumbai Indians in his cricketing career. Taylor was a member of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup. He is the only bowler to have ever taken a hat-trick in a Champions Trophy match,which he did in the 2006 tournament against Australia,and that was the first hat-trick taken by a West Indian bowler in the ODI format.

Seymour MacDonald Nurse was a Barbadian cricketer. Nurse played 29 Test matches for the West Indies between 1960 and 1969. A powerfully built right-hand batsman and an aggressive,if somewhat impetuous,shotmaker,Nurse preferred to bat in the middle order but was often asked to open the batting. A relative latecomer to high-level cricket,Nurse's Test cricket career came to what many consider a premature end in 1969.

Hophnie Hobah Hines Johnson was a West Indian international cricketer. His first-class cricket career began with his debut for Jamaica in 1935 and lasted until 1951,interrupted by the Second World War. Making his international debut at the age of 37,his Test career lasted just three matches. All three were against England,and the last was in 1950. During his first Test Match,Johnson took five wickets in the first innings and five in the second. He was the first fast bowler to take ten wickets in a single Test for the West Indies,and held the record for best bowling figures by a West Indies player on debut until his 10/97 was bettered by spin bowler Alf Valentine. Johnson was 40 years old when he played his final Test.
Brendan Paul Nash is a Jamaican Australian former professional cricketer who played Test and One Day International cricket for West Indies. He played first-class cricket for Jamaica,Queensland and Kent.
The West Indies cricket team toured England in 1933,playing three Test matches,losing two of them and drawing the other. In all,the side played 30 first-class matches,winning only five and losing nine.
The West Indies cricket team toured England in the 1939 season to play a three-match Test series against England. England won the series 1–0 with two matches drawn. A total of 25 first-class matches were played and the West Indian side won eight of them and lost six,with the others drawn. The tour was abandoned a few days after the final test match because of the worsening international situation with the Second World War imminent. The last six matches from 26 August to 12 September were cancelled.
George Alphonso Headley OD,MBE was a West Indian cricketer who played 22 Test matches,mostly before World War II. Considered one of the best batsmen to play for the West Indies and one of the greatest cricketers of all time,Headley also represented Jamaica and played professional club cricket in England. West Indies had a weak cricket team through most of Headley's playing career;as their one world-class player,he carried a heavy responsibility and the side depended on his batting. He batted at number three,scoring 2,190 runs in Tests at an average of 60.83,and 9,921 runs in all first-class matches at an average of 69.86. He was chosen as one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1934.
