Newhouse Records is an independent record label that began in 2000, by releasing vintage funk compilations. Then continued with releases of the funk fusion group, Cymande. The following Cymande albums have been released by Newhouse; The Soul of Rasta (limited pressing 2000), Cymande, Renegades of Funk (2005), and Cymande - Promised Heights (2007).

Cymande (See-man-day) was a British funk group that released several albums in the early 1970s and reunited in 2014 with a European tour and a new album released in 2015. The group was formed by Steve Scipio and Patrick Patterson in 1971 in London, England, along with musicians from Guyana, Jamaica and Saint Vincent. The name Cymande is derived from a calypso word for dove, symbolising peace and love.

The label also focuses on jazz, dance, electronica, funk, soul and deep house music and has released compilations of artists in this market. One notable project included tracks by St. Germain (musician), and a new roster of French artists, Kia, Florian, The Bottle, Versus, and Terrasse Tranquille featured on the album, Paris Under a Groove, which showcased "French touch," style of jazz/funk, deep house, and electronica music.

The album Paris Under a Groove was released in 2003. This album launched the "Under A Groove." brand which led to the follow-up album called, San Francisco Under a Groove released in 2005.

Funky house is a subgenre of house music that uses funk samples, a funk-inspired bass line or a strong soul influence, combined with drum breaks that draw inspiration from 1970s and 1980s funk records. The use of disco strings are also common in the genre, although not always. Funky house uses specific techniques and specific sound, characterized by bassline, swooshes, swirls and other synthesized sounds which give the music a bouncy tempo with around 128 BPM.

His musical influences are rooted in 1970s funk and disco sounds that spawned contemporary house music, as well as original soundtracks from 1950s and 1960s movies such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, La Dolce Vita and The Party, which were sampled in his album Sacrebleu. Dimitri fused these sounds with electro and block party hip hop he discovered in the 1980s.

Tetine are a duo composed of Bruno Verner and Eliete Mejorado. They met in 1995 in São Paulo, Brazil. Since then they have created a multitude of sound works from atonal orchestral pieces to electropunk / baile funk / miami bass-driven tunes.
