Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country in Southeast Europe, situated on the Balkan Peninsula. It borders Serbia to the east, Montenegro to the southeast, and Croatia to the north and southwest. In the south it has a 20 kilometres long coast on the Adriatic Sea, with the town of Neum being its only access to the sea. Bosnia has a moderate continental climate with hot summers and cold, snowy winters. In the central and eastern regions, the geography is mountainous, in the northwest it is moderately hilly, and in the northeast it is predominantly flat. Herzegovina, the smaller, southern region, has a Mediterranean climate and is mostly mountainous. Sarajevo is the capital and the largest city.

The Sarajevo metropolitan area including Sarajevo Canton, East Sarajevo and nearby municipalities is home to 555,210 inhabitants. Located within the greater Sarajevo valley of Bosnia, it is surrounded by the Dinaric Alps and situated along the Miljacka River in the heart of the Balkans, a region of Southern Europe.
The 1984 Winter Olympics, officially known as the XIV Olympic Winter Games and commonly known as Sarajevo '84, were a winter multi-sport event held between 8 and 19 February 1984 in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia. It was the first Winter Olympic Games held in a Slavic language-speaking country, as well as the only Winter Olympics held in a communist country before the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China. It was the second consecutive Olympic Games held in a communist country, after the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union.

Franklin S. Nelson was an American ice dancer from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Competing in partnership with Sidney Arnold, he was the 1956 U.S. national bronze medalist, and placed 7th at the 1956 World Figure Skating Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, West Germany.
Naida Akšamija is a Bosnian figure skater. She is the 2001 & 2007 Bosnian and Herzegovinian national champion. She placed 27th in the qualifying round at the 2006 World Junior Figure Skating Championships.
Istočno Novo Sarajevo is a municipality of the city of Istočno Sarajevo located in Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina. As of 2013, it has a population of 10,642 inhabitants.
Association football is the most popular sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina since after gaining independence from Yugoslavia in 1991, in 1995 they played their first international game against Albania, but they made the debut at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, their first ever appearance in the tournament.

Maja Sarihodžić, known by her stage name Maya Sar, is a Bosnian singer-songwriter. She represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 2012 Eurovision Song Contest with the song "Korake ti znam". Her debut album Krive riječi was released 1 June 2013.
Memnun Hadžić is a former boxer from Bosnia and Herzegovina. As amateur he reached quarterfinals at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almeria and won bronze medal at the 2008 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Liverpool, UK. In december 2009 he became professional.
For the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia, a total of nine sports venues were used. The idea for the Games came around from a 1968 Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development study on promoting winter tourism in Yugoslavia. After Sarajevo was awarded the 1984 Games in 1978, venue construction and renovation took place between 1979 and 1983. Weather postponed the men's downhill alpine skiing event three times before it was finally run. The men's cross-country skiing 30 km event was run during a blizzard. After the games, all but one of the venues were damaged during the Bosnian War and the siege of Sarajevo. After the war, Zetra Ice Hall was rebuilt and is in use as of 2010.
The 2003 IIHF World U18 Championship Division III was a pair of international under-18 ice hockey tournaments run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Division III tournaments made up the fourth level of competition at the 2003 IIHF World U18 Championships. The Group A tournament took place between 5 and 8 March 2003 in Mexico City, Mexico and the Group B tournament took place between 6 and 9 February 2003 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Group A competition was won by Australia while Iceland won the Group B tournament. Upon winning their respective tournaments both teams gained promotion to Division II of the 2004 IIHF World U18 Championships.
The 1989 World Junior Figure Skating Championships were held from November 29 to December 4, 1988 in Sarajevo, SR Bosnia and Herzegovina, SFR Yugoslavia. The event was sanctioned by the International Skating Union and open to ISU member nations. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing.
KK Bosna Meridianbet is a professional basketball team based in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is the most successful Bosnian club of all time, having been the EuroLeague champion by winning the 1978–79 FIBA European Champions Cup. The club competes in the Basketball Championship of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is part of the University Sport Society USD Bosna.
Lucrezia Gennaro is an Italian figure skater. She is the 2018 Triglav Trophy champion, the 2018 EduSport Trophy champion, the 2018 Denkova-Staviski Cup silver medalist, the 2019 Sofia Trophy silver medalist, and the 2019 Open Ice Mall Cup silver medalist. She has competed in the final segment at two ISU Championships – the 2016 World Junior Championships and 2019 European Championships.
Figure skating at the 2019 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival was held on 13 and 14 February at the Skenderija Hall in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Medals were awarded in men's and ladies' singles. Eligible skaters must have been born between July 1, 2002 and June 30, 2004.
Medieval Town of Dubrovnik, also Old Dubrovnik Fort in Višnjica, is medieval fortress in the area of Višnjica, Ilijaš municipality, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city was seat of the Bosnian Knez Batić of Mirković's. In 2014 it was declared as National monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
