The North/South Consonance Ensemble is an American chamber ensemble dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music from the Americas. It was founded in 1980 and is based in New York City. It is directed by the pianist and composer Max Lifchitz, who is also the ensemble's founder.

Contents

The ensemble has performed over 850 different works by composers from around the world and has released many CDs on its own label, North/South Recordings.

Chicago a cappella is a non-profit organization devoted to furthering the art of ensemble singing without any instruments. The group of professional singers began in 1993 by Jonathan Miller and conduct a series of performances annually. The organization displays a yearly subscription series for Chicago residents, produces studio recordings as well as live and broadcast-media musical content, and performs on tour and in special arrangements. The ensemble is known for their outstanding vocal abilities, innovative programming, and have a reputation of being a leader within the choral field. Expanding from a collection of a Gregorian chants to the Beatles and beyond, the singers are known for their wide repertoire including early works, vocal jazz, and spirituals. The Oregon East Symphony is an orchestra based in Pendleton, Oregon, United States. The Ars Nova Singers is a choral ensemble based in Boulder, Colorado. Founded in 1986, Ars Nova Singers is composed of about 40 singers who were selected through auditions from the Boulder / Denver metropolitan area. Alexander Rudajev was a composer and psychiatrist. He was trained at the Prague Conservatory. In 1962, he moved to Paris to study composition with the legendary teacher Nadia Boulanger. He went to medical school to provide what he called a "backup" profession, and specialized in psychiatry, but continued to compose professionally as well. In 1969, he moved to New York City; eventually, he moved to Florida, where his psychiatric practice was in Clearwater.

John Serry Jr. is an American jazz pianist and composer, as well as a composer of contemporary classical music works that feature percussion, on which he also doubles. He is a son of the accordionist and composer John Serry. His debut solo album was 'Exhibition', for which he received a Grammy Nomination for his composition, 'Sabotage'.

The Avison Ensemble is one of England's leading exponents of classical music on period instruments. It is named after Charles Avison (1709–1770), the Newcastle-born composer, conductor and organist, considered ‘the most important English concerto composer of the 18th Century’. Comprising some of Europe's leading musicians and soloists, the Ensemble is directed by violinist Pavlo Beznosiuk. It varies in numbers depending on the repertoire being performed, and is typically of chamber ensemble or concerto grosso size, expanding to full chamber orchestra when needed.

    Musicians in the North/South Consonance Ensemble recently performed their annual holiday concert at Christ and St. Stephen’s Church on West 69th Street. Funding for the concert came in part from the Music Performance Trust Fund, and musicians enjoyed the wages and benefits of a Local 802 contract. [1]
