Tioga County is a county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. As of the 2020 census, the population was 41,045. Its county seat is Wellsboro. The county was created on March 26, 1804, from part of Lycoming County and later organized in 1812. It is named for the Tioga River. Tioga County is in the sparsely populated Pennsylvania Wilds region.

Waverly is the largest village in Tioga County, New York, United States. As of the 2010 U.S. census, Waverly had a population of 4,177. It is located southeast of Elmira in the Southern Tier region. This village was incorporated as the southwest part of the town of Barton in 1854. The village name was conceived by Joseph "Uncle Joe" Hallett, founder of its first Fire Department and pillar of the community, dropping the second "e" from the name of his favorite author's novel, Waverley by Sir Walter Scott. The former village hall is listed on the National Historic Places list.

It parallels PA Route 287 and U.S. Route 15, following the valleys of Marsh Creek, Crooked Creek, and the Tioga River. The railroad connects with Norfolk Southern's Southern Tier Line at Corning.

The district operates schools in Mansfield, Liberty, and Blossburg. It serves residents in: Covington Township, Rutland Township, Richmond Township, Liberty Township, Bloss Township, Sullivan Township, Ward Township, Morris Township, and Hamilton Township, as well as Roseville Borough and Putnam. In Lycoming County, Southern Tioga School District serves both: Jackson Township and Cogan House Township.

Galeton Area School District encompasses approximately 325 square miles (840 km2). It serves the municipalities of Galeton, Abbott Township, West Branch Township, Pike Township, and a portion of Hector Township in Potter County, plus Elk Township and Gaines Township in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. According to 2000 federal census data, the district served a resident population of 3,292. By 2010, the district's population declined to 2,929 people. The educational attainment levels for the Galeton Area School District population were 82.7% high school graduates and 9.6% college graduates.

Purchase Line High School, named for the boundary line set by William Penn in the late 1700s and the small village surrounding the school, was established in 1954 and serves students in northeast Indiana and southwest Clearfield counties.
Mifflin County High School is a mid sized, rural public high school. It is the sole high school operated by the Mifflin County School District. The school was established in 2011, by the merging of the district's two former high schools. This move was due to budget cuts and aging facilities in the other schools. Construction of Mifflin County High School cost $64 million in 2011. Local public debt was used to finance the building. The 251,088 square foot building was built by Hayes Large Architects, LLP. In the 2018–19 school year, the school's enrollment was reported as 1,186.
Susquenita High School is a small, rural, public high school located in Duncannon, Perry County, Pennsylvania. It is the sole high school operated by the Susquenita School District. Susquenita High School serves the boroughs of Marysville, New Buffalo, and Duncannon. It also serves: Watts Township, Wheatfield Township, Penn Township, and Rye Township, as well as Reed Township in Dauphin County.
As of the 2022-2023 and the 2023-2024 school years, there are 555 high school football teams competing in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association's (PIAA)12 Districts. Each district is divided into numerous leagues and conferences, with an upgrade of the class rankings. Up until the end of the 2016 school year, there were only four class rankings, ranging from Class A to Class AAAA. At the beginning of the PIAA 2016-17 school year, however, the PIAA added two additional class rankings, making six total.
North Penn - Liberty High School is a diminutive, rural, public high school located at 8675 Route 414, Liberty, Tioga County, Pennsylvania, US. It is one of two high schools operated by Southern Tioga School District. North Penn - Liberty High School serves the southern portion of the district in Tioga County, as well as two townships in northern Lycoming County: Jackson Township and Cogan House. Formerly called Liberty High School, the building's name was changed when the Southern Tioga School Board closed North Penn High School in 2014, shifting students to this school building.
